Geek Squad

Skin Idea

Wednesday, March 16, 2005 by Josiah2097 | Discussion: OS Customization

Hey, my name is Josiah and I'm on the Geek Squad. I love being on the Geek Squad because I've had a computer since I was 3 yrs old. I'm pretty new to the Wincustomize world, but it's pretty sweet so far! Anyway, I thought it would be cool if there were some Geek Squad themed skins or, in a perfect world, complete suites! Hit me back on your thoughts.

Are you talking about Best Buy's Geek Squad?

Yeah.. The only geek squad I have ever heard of is at Best Buy. But I dunno, if your a "geek squad" you should be able to make skins yourself.
But really... Look around, there's so many skins, I'm sure you'll find one to your tastes!

Geek Squad is actually a franchise through BestBuy. For a fee you could establish yourself as a Geek Squad service independent of a BestBuy store.

If BestBuy owns the trademark Geek Squad™, then wouldn't you need a license or okay from BestBuy™ to use the trademark. Also, what does Stardock have to say about this? Does it violate any licensing agreements with Stardock to use trademarks with Stardock products without the owner's written premission? I am just wondering for my own information since I will be willing to develope some DesktopX objects that use trademarks. Some come existing examples come to mind are the UPS™ and FedEx™ tracking widgets and DX Objects that exist currently.

The term Geek Squad has been around for a long time...long before BestBuy started one...and just claiming your on a Geek Squad I doubt would be a violation of anything. Now UPS or FedEx I would think would be a violation...but who knows.

If the term has been around and people still use it. Doesn't BestBuy have to challenge EVERYONE of them in court to still keep the trademark? It's that part of the trademark laws. I saw a similar case with Apple an their trademarks. To keep that trademark active, you have to actively challenge any misuse of it. Else lose it.

Comments anyone?

LoL..You can make whatever you wish Boss as long as it is for personal use..of course you knew that...

As for the "Geezer Squad" Now that term is relevant to a couple very different meanings..I am going to assume you mean the "Elder" definition..::laughs:: and unfortunately I may be asking you to make me that same Icon!!

LoL,
Zero.

Cool Zero, we need more members, often wonder if we are getting pushed aside by those Geek Squaders and yes, I mean "Elder"....age only, not mind.
