[HELP] Desktop X Does Not Start

Sunday, March 13, 2005 by Jun-Woo Kim | Discussion: Bug Reports

Hi,
I have installed the new beta (2.99) version of the DesktopX, and as soon as I launch the program after installation, I only see the "DesktopX" title in the taskbar shortly before it disappears. I don't see any DesktopX related process when I check all running instances on my system. Previously with the version 2.XX series, I have had "This is not a valid desktopX theme" when I tried to load any DesktopX themes, and no widgets will load if I tried to load them manually.

I don't know what aspects of my system is unique compared to others without any problems. To assist you in any ways, I use the Sony VAIO T series notebook(and all VAIO related processes that comes along), and Norton Anti-Virus 2003. Also, my system has the Korean version of Windows XP(meaning I have Far-East Asian language support).

I have tried to clear the cache, and other methods suggested by the Stardock support, except using the "Zapper".

It's really disappointing, because using DesktopX was my main reason for subscribing in Obect Desktop program. I hope y'all would find a good solution for me. (It would be sooooo cool to have my DesktopX back!)

Thanks.

Try downloading the released version.  You may have to uninstall and reinstall DesktopX to make sure all the various caches are cleared out.
