Toolbar / Menu text - Firefox
"text color" difficult / impossible to read
Friday, March 11, 2005 by jsabarese | Discussion: WindowBlinds
The XP folder views are legible as the font/ menu text colors typically appear w/ appropriate contrast (i.e. white, or light colored text instead of black over a dark colored theme), but often the Quick Launch menu items' text is also illegible.
is there a setting in Firefox that must be checked to allow the WindowBlinds theme to take over?
what about the Quick Launch text? is this a setting issue, or perhaps just an oversight by the author in his or her theme design?
if need be, i'll upload a screenshot to illustrate.
thanks!

Windows is. I have spent over 1 hour playing with text colors on dark skins and still ended up have to accept some
would still be unreadable. To be able to have all text readable all the time you would have to also edit some image
colors.
The steps needed will be different with almost every skin, Underground is one I spent about 45 mins. on then gave up.
Will be different since skins are not dark in same places, some dark skins have light menubar but dark menus so menus would be
the hard to read parts, some are dark everywhere with unreadable text everywhere. It depends on the skin you are editing and
what is important to you to be able to read. How I edit for myself may not suit what you want.
I always use theme for FireFox that skins menubar.
You just need to play with SkinStudio to get a feel for what it can do(thats what I have done) for settings in
miscellaneous colors I am still not sure what they all are for.

colors. Since most darker skins have gray background for unskinned menus, text is black. Best work around is to
use a FF skin that skins menubar.
For quicklaunch if problem is on mouseover is that text colour for quicklaunch and favorites is again menu text and
text highlighted in colors, but when menu background used colour change does not work. Why it skins like normal menus
but uses colours for unskinned menus I don't know. Or same as FF if menu background dark but unskinned menus grey.
Another FF quirk status bar text applies by setting of Misc. Window, text nromal.
