first of all you would need to send an email to Jairo Boudewyn asking her permission to use his wallpaper..he is the author and as such is due the respect. From there if you dont know how to do it, I could help you, or even to Jairo that I would be making the logon for you and have him include that information. Then it would be no problem, you would have authorization. But these are the steps you must follow..authors rights should always be number one priority and I agree his wall would make a really great logon.

Well...If thats what they were looking at then I am going to have to disagree with you Yrgal...and I do.
Also the #2 on that list I am having trouble agreeing with after a bit of thought.
If a person is using the wallpaper for purely personal use (no matter *What that use involves) and they arent offering it to anyone else..How is that violating copyrights?
The method I describe above for getting a wallpaper to work as a log-on does NOT actually create a log-on out of that wallpaper..it just kinda skins over another log-on..
Now I can agree with #1 most defintely, and I have stated that myself..in this case I offer a "Work Around"..thats all.
At anyrate, if the post is all that bad the Wizops will pull it, (and I *defintely know this to be true!..LoL)and whether I agree with that or not, it will be a fact of life!..LoL

Ok (rant,rant,rant)Yrgal, im waiting for a reply, explain to me *your justification for obviously "correcting" me, because at this point (since I have had my coffee!..LoL) I fail to see how any of your points are valid.

Of course, to be completely correct would be to purchase the pro version of Log-on studio, then you can create log-ons out of pretty much anything you want, as long as you do not violate copyrights and upload them to a server where others can download them.

This is really a "grey area" -is using a wallpaper as a Log-on, for purely personal use in violation? As I understand it, as long as it is not publically distributed, there is no violation. (please correct me if im wrong)
IE:
Take movies for example, I can purchase a DVD, invite my entire neighborhood over to my house to watch it and that is perfectly fine, but, if I were to plug the same DVD into a player at a public event, say a football, soccer, or any type of event where the general public is..*That is an infringment on copyrights.
Soooooo, I ask again, how is what I have shown in violation of any type of copyrights, if the user only uses it for his/her personal enjoyment??
I do know this is a touchy subject among artist, and I can understand why. In my "work around" The Log-on used, isnt really altered and can be used as originally intended, and the wall paper used is modified slightly but it is *Not* made into an actual log-on, it simply "skins" over the top of one. PLUS the wallpaper that is being used as a log on, in all probability is ALSO being used as wallpaper, so it is being used as it was intended as well. (ok, enough on that!..::laughs:

So on this one Yrgal, im sorry but you have absolutely no justification for adding it.

Image for logon is normal bitmap ( 16 color-4 bit is for bootskins ), when browse and select new image it replaces
old image as parts of logon are titled Bitmap_100.bmp, 102,103 etc. Each number for certain part of logon. It is
a new logon, new preview shows in Logon Studio.
You are correct that as long as for personal use you can use any image and any logon and do what you want with them.
If you are getting this error you are doing something wrong, or logon used is not correct, .ini problem.
I have free version and can use anything I want as long as convert to bitmap first.

Thanks Cavan, I could swear I have read in some "tut" somewhere that the image used had to be the same format as the boot..
So in that regard, the info is wrong..
Ok..
I had writtin off creating logons with the studio due to following the most basic tut supplied in the help section,to the very letter, and ending up with the Run-time error I mentioned. I simply decided that actually creating a logon must be a feature of the pro ver.
So what did I do??..::laughs:: I made it work for me.."kinda".
Anyway, I will play around with it some more and see if I can determine what the problem is..
But right now I gotta run!

No problem Zero. I am not sure what the run time error is can only suggest to check .ini of one that causes error
against one that does not, you should be able to find error. I have created a few logons to see how it works, and
have edited every logon I have, only thing ever cause error is other language in .ini, false as falsch. This is in
.ini of ones I edit, once correct spelling works fine.

This is no way the proper way to do it, but it works..
First, choose a working log-on that has everything set up the way you want it..ie: Log-on box, messages, etc,,etc,,
Then choose the wallpaper you want to use, You may have to do a little editing to the image for it to be accepted by windows.
The image has to be a BMP
Has to be indexed at 16 color -4 bit
And has to be 72 dpi
After you have all of that arranged open up Logon Studio, choose the Logon that is set-up how you want it to be set up on your image. Click *Edit on the left side, then click the image in the preview window, this will open up the backround editor on the right hand side of logon studio.
At the top of the list it's labeled "picture" and there is a "browse" button at the very end of the top row, click the browse button, browse to your image and choose it.
What happens is your image will overlay the original image, and it will always show the original image in the start-up preview window of logon studio, but your image will be displayed at log-on.
Click save, here you may get a "Run-time 53" error and Log-on studio will close, just reopen it, scroll through the list to the log-on that you used, click apply,,
And there you are..
It's a hack,
It is by no means proper,
And it might piss off the artist who's work you are covering up!
But it works
