Sunday, February 20, 2005 by pharho | Discussion: DesktopX
Im new to DesktopX.. The default themes that come with the desktopX download all work.. ie I can see the backgrounds.. But when I download a theme, the backgrounds dont come up?? I can see them in display manager.. but they dont show up on my monitor?? Also, If I change wallpapers.. The one I changed to will come up.. Just not the one with the theme.. Strange...
Any help would be appricated.

Thanks a lot for the help!! What I had to do is put the walls in the c:/windows folder and then I could pick them from the display settings..
Thanks!!
Terry.

Keeping images that you don't want to use as a wallpaper in folders inside of "My Pictures" will keep them from being part of the Display Properties list.

This may solve the problem, and is the first thing I would try.
When the theme is applied, the files are written to the various directories, so in the case of a WindowBlind - you will have a folder for the blind in the "Stardock\WindowBlinds", or "Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds" directory.
You can look inside that folder to see if the background image exists.
I keep all Walls that I want available to me in "C:\Windows" directory (this is where Microsoft places all .bmp (image) files for display backgrounds for shipping by default), and users can place .bmp, .jpeg, .png files here to be available through "Display>Properties" dialog.
I hope this helps.
