Help Me I can't instal new blinds
Having trouble installing new window blinds

Alright here's the deal I was at my buddy's house and for the first time I the coolest XP modification ever and he showed wincustomize.com windows blinds. I'm in love its the coolest thing ever. I download blind after blind on his computer but when I got home and downloaded the freeware windowblinds 4.5 and then tried to download new blinds from the gallery i couldn't install them. Whenever I download new blinds I goto the folder in which they are saved to and double click the blind's icon and it just opens up into a folder full of picture and other files. The blinds download and save as .zip files i think this is my problem how can I get them to download as .wba files. Because when I downloaded a new blind on my buddy's computer all that I had to do was double click it after it finished downloading and it automatically installed and I was immediately able to apply the style/blind it was unbelieviable simple. WHY am I having so much frustration and trouble. ANY AND ALL HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED THANK YOU SSPEARL!!!

Sometimes you need to name them WBA when your saving them for download..I have tried changing the file name afterwards and it doesnt work 100% of the time..

Thanks alot and for responding quickly (I guess I got lucky) I don't know. Anyways I have some omore questions after downloading a logon and/or boot skin how do I apply them and what file type should they be saved as. I already have the utilities. I downloaded them tonight but I'm sure where to save the files or what file type. also same problem with screensavers where do I savethem and do I need a utility to add a new screensaver. Sorry if my questions seem like common sense stuff I'm a rookie.

also Icons and cursors as well- where do I save them, how do I apply them, what file type to save as, etc. thanks for all your previous help!!!

sspearl - I'm a newbie too, don't feel bad! As for what file types Logons and Bootscreens should be...I *think* the file extensions are .bootscreen and .logonXP. Could be wrong.
When I dowload files I often save them to the "My Downloads" folder, although more experienced users may tell you to do otherwise. I've never had a problem loading them once I downloaded them, so I'm at least 1/2 right. You can also save them to your C: > Program Files > Stardock > Wincustomize > Logon Studio or a similar path for your bootscreens.

davidzzz I have found that to get Icon packages to work i save the file in C:>program files>stardock>wincustomize>icon packager>themes and save them as a zip file then right click the new download and select the "OPEN WITH..." command from the menu and I select Icon Packager as the application or I right click the new download and extract all files. sometimes those things work for me with ICONS i'm still wotking trying to get cursor themes to load into cursorXP i save them as .curXPTheme files which was i noticed other cursorXP themes being. as far as new blinds Double Zero's simple solution worked!! when I save the files I save them into "My Downloads" but I add .wba to the name of the file before saving. then all I have to do is double click the new download and in seconds I get a bubble saying a blind has been install i click that bubble or go to dwsktop properties/ appearence and it can be easily applied. thanks for everyones help and I hope that these simple discoveries of newbie will help other newbies.

sspearl--thanks for the tips. i wonder if it makes a differance if its cursorXP-free or cursorXP Plus on allowing to downloading ? i have the free one.

My method is quicker , no need to riff-raff around in the folder options.
Visit this site above this post. Write down the extension for the programs you will be using.
Next when you are on the save as dialog You are given two types of files compressed folders and all files. Select all files from the drop down. Now add the appropriate file extension for the program you are downloading files for.
Once you have done this click save. Once done downloading , click open , TADA
ITS INSTALLED!
