A Note of Appreciation from a Newbie

Thank you for being so kind to those of us just starting to tinker with the programs available here. I especially want to thank the Screenshot gallery people for their kind words - it's nice to see that something so subjective as one's personal taste in desktops is met with words of encouragement - even if it's not exactly to their taste. I am sure that many of the new users are like me, someone who has for years tweaked their wallpapers and tried all the "themes" available with their system as it came "out of the box" so to speak. Wanting to change things to fit the way I did things, but just a little afraid to strike out. Then came your site and I now find myself happily chugging along, changing not just my wallpaper, but my blinds, icons and cursors, logons and bootskins (sometimes on a daily basis). I have even ventured into the word of objectbars and have been following along on the tutorials for making your own icons. Amazing! Cordila, Frogboy and Mormegil, you guys and gals are absolutly fabulous - your tutorials are not only easily followed by those of us without a "skinning" background, but are a hoot to boot!!! I have been impressed by the amount and quality of help made available by this community (assessed by reading the forums for the past month or so). So impressed that I have been recommending this program to all my friends and have become a suscriber and no longer just a lookie loo!!

Thank you, glad to be onboard and looking forward to lots of tinkering and tweaking with all the great stuff all the talented folks here keep making. This is almost better than shopping for shoes

Keep looking for some great wall paper with a shoe theme, but so far no luck - maybe gonna have to try to make one for myself - something like " If the Shoe fits, buy it in every color!!!"

im a newbie too, but i took the standard windows users approach "tinker with it til it breaks" then reformat, reinstall windows, then go to www.wincustomize.com and buy OD and download what you like best, then after you've played with all the buttons, sliders, toggles, in the configuration apps and realize the software is well written and is integrated into Windows beautifully. only then, go to the tutorials and begin to apply what ive learned...but thats just me

So here's what I've learned this week ---how to make logons and bootscreens. That one has to remember that 16 bit and 16 color are two very different things and that progress bars aren't as hard as they look. My photshop skills still suck slough water, but hey, this is my very first week with it. I have been continually amazed by this community (being made up of mainly the "artsy" types I expected a lot more temper tantrums ) but have be touched by their willingness to help and the concern they show for those they don't even know (I read your post, Sleeping Dragon, and the posts of those who followed your lead - I couldn't help here, as I am not yet a member of Deviantart). This is truly a community I am proud to be part of (even if I am not a very productive part!!)

Why thank you Wizop BoXXi I like to start my looking at skins from the earliest to the most updated, classics get better with time and deserve as much attention as the new stuff. It's like music. Just 'cause it's old, doesn't mean it doesn't swing!!!

I'm old (40), but fairly sure I don't swing. I bop a little, hip hop a little, groove a bit, been known to slide, but don't think I have ever "swung".

40...that's still a kid! I hit the big 51 and am looking the 52 right in the face..and I'm not cringing (well, gritting my teeth a little maybe)and am still boppin', jivin', salsa'n and even a little swing now and again and will be until the knees are really and truely gone beyond repair
