Double Layer DVD Format & Middle adged Hardware

Hey there everybody.. Does anyone know if there is a patch around yet for the newer DVD's coming out? Ok..let me explain..I have a TDK 880n DVD burner (used to be a decent product!) it plays older dvd's without a problem, but now with the newer "Double Layer" DVDs I am having sound issues, Roxio's DVD Max player wont even recognize the disk in the ROM! a LLama player came with one movie,plays the movie, still no sound though.. I have flashed the firmware, reinstalled my sound drivers and software (just hoping it would work)and still no sound..but only from the newer style DVD's..all the older ones still work perfectly.. Another funny thing is..the movies work fine in my PS2..LoL.. has to be a DVD ROM thing..::sighs:: Anyway..if any of you know of anything that may help..dont keep it a secret! LoL..
