Had tried an earlier version under a free offer at DevArt- Installation went well on a (then) new laptop. Unfortunately they require you to buy all your software through the Linspire organization, unlike other distributions of Linux that will install software for free from source through a simple-command line operation. It's all a balance of cost, however, and for a non-technical user Linspire really was easy to adapt to, especially for cross-over users.

Linspire's main disadvantage is lots of hardware incompatibilities.

There are lots of better Linux distributions. Microsoft has now done a good thing - pushed away from the scene an OS that is only marketing and not much functionality. Let's hope they'll improve their Windows.
