Problems with Norton Internet Security

Having recently re-formatting and reinstalling Windows XP Pro I installed Norton Internet Security 2004 and run a full anti virus scan I then reinstalled Object Desktop and downloaded various files from this site, as a matter of precaution I always scan any downloaded files but on trying a manual scan of the downloaded files no scanning dialog box or a summary of the scanned files appeared. Has anyone else had these problems. Thanks
