Request for more scripting calls

I hope this is the right forum for this post.
I would like to see a script command that would allow interaction with active and inactive windows.
By the categorical layout of the Scripting Guide I think they would fall under the system namespace?
Being able to user conditions if a window is active or inactive would be a plus too.
