Gmail, again... (Does anyone not have an account?)

Help, I'm drowning in invites!

Wednesday, February 2, 2005 by Sapphiremoonlight | Discussion: Internet

Well when I first got my gmail account in August they were still somewhat unheard of in many circles and invitations were mana from heaven. I've had nine invites sitting around for-EVER and that's just in my main account. So late last night (or early this morning?) I'm writing email and notice that the invite form has changed... and so has my number of invites... "50 left" What?!?!?? I can't give away nine, how am I supposed to unoad fifty? Somehow I think that's what google is thinking. So if you would like a nice shiny gmail account (I adore mine, all four of them) just let me know! I ask only one favor, I just started a blog and would love if you head over there, sign the guestbook, yada yada. Thee will be a "would you like a gmail account option" in the guestbook, just don't forget your email addy and name! http://sapphiremoonlight.blogspot.com/ Thanks!

49 now. Surpised me. Looks like it's going full-open soon. 49 because I just sent one recently.

Ah, so said many of those I know who now enjoy their gmail. But if anyone does want an account let me know or at least just sign my guest book. It's still completely empty and a little lonely looking I'm getting close to asking my dad to sign it! Sapphire Moonlight's Moonstruck Musings is the name of my blog. I have a total of sixty-six invites right now.

Don't see any advantage in having one! ?

I like the way emails and replies are grouped into "conversations." Have you ever seen the way it looks JamMeister? I would take a screenshot but I don't have a good example that I don't mind the world reading, lol. Here's the standard google link on the benefits of gmail. Link I just know that I like to reread my mail and I hated having to find the email that I wrote to someone in my sent folder and then go read their reply in the folder that I filed that in when I had hotmail. If I even remembered to save a copy of the message I sent! I like having it all together on one page. Plus being able to search rules.

I use it because sometimes I need to email some notes to myself when I forget to bring thumb drive with me.

The invites are a marketing ploy...to fabricate desirability.

Anyone who falls for it is welcome to it.

You're right about the desirability Jafo but then again I didn't watch ER for about five years simply because it was so very popular. I missed out on a great show. And spent a lot of mornings watching TNT to catch up!!

I 'fell' into it just because gmail have better storage and interface than my old yahoo account.

Reasons to use gmail:

pop3 access
auto forwarding
1 Gig of free storage (forget paying those 'net drive sites -- just upload to yourself as attachments)
don't have to constantly login or lose my account

Sapphire,

Have you tried Blog Explosion? I've found it a good way to jumpstart traffic to new blogs. Also use Ping-O-Matic whenever you update your blogs. Almost all the traffic to one of my blogs comes from directories pinged with Ping-O-Matic.

Ty Gene Nash! I glanced at the links but have to run myself through the shower and then hustle to work. I'll give it a more thorough look-at when I get home tonight. Although until I get some skills under my belt and learn more about how to make my blog look the way I want it to I'm not sure exactly how much traffic I want! Right now I'm reading a little primer on html and hope to be adding a links section to my blog soon. Thanks for the advice

Apparently only Jafo understands how it works. Stop the gmail spamming. Let the dang company pay for marketing like the rest of the world. Don't do it for them!
