Problem Downloading New WindowBlinds4.5 Through Stardock Central

I Realize that I am probably one of the few this soon (2.5 hrs)into the new release to have this problem,on the other hand with the hits this site gets...lol... seems the second half of the download has a incorrect url or other problem that pops up a error message of this nature.
"There was an error installing WindowBlinds4. The following error occured:
Download: wb4/production 0 (attempt 3: The Url is invalid, code; -14)
Result: Installation failed."
I am guesing that this is either server overload, (everyone hitting at once), or the actual Url used in data transfer for a part of the new release is inaccurate as the report shows many files downloaded to the temp directory then it shows (skipped) on about the second half.
If the admins would like a copy of this report i can forward a copy to an authorized e-mail address. I will check back later today 1-25-05 to see if there is a reply. Keep up the good work!

I am having the same problem. Seems like a lot of hoops to leap through just to install something that should just "work". Many novice users won't even be able to find the temp directory as it is hidden by default. Not an acceptable solution if you ask me.

| Unload WB. Using SDC, un-install WB (a Themes and Settings prompt comes up...keep 'Themes and Settings') and reboot on prompt. Open and delete the contents in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp\sdcentral. Disable Anti-Virus proggie and install 4.5 using SDC. |

I agree. I just posted elsewhere about this "solution". There is clearly a problem with the SDC update or the WB4.5 update or SDC's site. Either way, making paying users jump through hoops to install an update that clearly has been provided wrong, is not good support. It is however, an easy way out for giving support. Come on guys, I've seen you do much better than that.

HOW TO ENABLE "SHOW SYSTEM FOLDERS" ON THE WINDOWS XP ® - OPERATING SYSTEM
1. Left click on the "Start" button.
2. Left Click on "Run".
3. In the "Open" address area, type in control.exe and click on OK
4. This will bring up the control panel window.
5. Click on "Appearance and Themes", and then click on "Folder Options"
6.Select the "View" tab at the top of the window, and in the list look for "Hidden Files and Folders" (note: if you double click on the folder it will produce a drop down.)
7.Select the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option.
8. You have made it this far so while you are here you should also UNCHECK
"Hide Extensions for Known File Types" as this will really ruin your day trying to rename a file extension, for example a downloaded bootskin named "killerboot.zip", will only show the "Killerboot" part and to make matters worse when you try to rename it to "Killerboot.bootskin", you will end up with a file named "Killerboot.bootskin.zip"
So in order to eliminate the confusion and problems and frustration that Bill and Company bestowed upon us..lol this should have been the default setting not an option.
