ObjectBar v2: Need some help

Tuesday, January 18, 2005 by [email protected] | Discussion: Object Desktop

I know its a Beta, but i was just wondering if somebody had some input on these issues anyway. Really if you have anything to say about any of this, that would be a big help.

1. I cant embed DesX Widgets. I go thru the process as i see it,and it says its there in the menu editor, but nothing happens. (also when i select the widget to embed in the 'common dialog' it opens the widget, but places it in its default X,Y on my screen)...that last part might not have been clear, but all i'm sayin is that i cant get a widget in a menu.

2. what happened to my right click menu? did this function get wiped in the new version?...cuz i can't see where i would select it in the new interface.

3. Since i was hooked on using my own right click menu, i went and downloaded 'Right Click'. Now when ever i click the desktop, my old right click menu i made in the previous version of ObjBar shows up for a nano-second, and then the default menu that came with RightClick takes its place. What is goin on? Judging from the interface ...it seems rightclick is just a single menu maker version of objectbar. So i have to load another app to do the exact same thing that a previous version of ObjectBar did?

So anybody got tips?...info?....anything?

1) Only certain widgets work for some reason. Make sure your bar is wide enough to fit the widget in there too.

2) Odd...there USED to be an option...perphaps you have to use RightClick now instead.

3) Exactly correct! OB2 has a lot more functionality though. Maybe soon a feature will be built in to call the menus for a right-click instead of demanding a whole other program to be run for it.

1.Thanx for the response. Atleast now i know it can work. Anybody know the criteria for widgets that will work?

2. Actually i found an option in the ObjBar commands that opens the 'advanced editor', which is really just the old UI. But eventhough the option is there to select a right-click menu, it wont work when i click the desktop anymore.

3.I hope they intend on maintaining full functionality in ObjBr2.

Thanks again ... I'll try the widget thing some more.
