IconX not loading correct icons

Thursday, January 6, 2005 by Thomas Thomassen | Discussion: Stardock Support General

I've got the latest IconX from the ODNT. (alpha/beta enabled)
For some reason it does not display the correct icons. 98% of my icons got the old windows application icon. Same things happend if I create new shortcuts as well.
Any clues?

Depends the properties of the shortcut...

The Image on the left shows the properties of a shortcut that does work with IconX. The one on the right shows one that doesn't. Both are shortcuts to the same program. Notice the one on the right has the Target location disabled....IconX can't find the shortcut's icon in this case. If you go to the program's folder and right-click drag to desktop and choose Create Shortcuts Here, you'll get the right type of shortcut that works with IconX

Turns out. If I create shortcuts to program files it works all right. But not when I create shortcut to toher files such as folders and etc.

And shouldn't IconX be able to getthe icons of the "my computer", "my networks" and "recycle bin"? The "desktopx" icon on my screenshot there is a folder that lies directly on the desktop. Why isn't that loading correctly?
