The Meaning of life

Monday, September 27, 2004 by gizzimo | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Ok everyone?

yeah I just want to know everyone's opinion on The meaning of life, and if they have answers for it. I've been told by many that the meaning of life is to die. To me that's not the answer, death is the climax, but what is the MEANING of life? i think it is to 'experience' and to live fully and explore everything you possibly can before the consclusion falls from God himself.... or whatever.

....?

.... Well you guys seem pretty fired up on the..uh, 42 things. Death is a climax because it is the ultimate experience, the final experience (phsyically anyway). I think you misunderstood that Doreen. it's almost a contrary experience but they do say that there are still 6-12 minutes of conscious activity (regardless of the death) after dying - so you would technically have experienced death. I don't know.

Alright, what are people's thoughts on "reincarnation"? Do some of you believe that you were once Alexandra the great or Cleopatra? Do some of you think that the concept of reincarnation is ridiculous? Explain...

How could someone know this to be a fact? If you're dead, you wouldn't be able to come back and tell someone about it...

42?

Good, then I still have time!

reincarnation

Now that question is easy.
We all started from somewhere and we all finish somewhere. Body parts used for other things, just like they were other things before the body parts were formed.

The circle of life.

What I wonder is our consciences stays intact or dissipates into many different things. In others words, do I become a bird or do I become a bird, rock, tree, solar wind, oxygen and some other things.

I dont know why this is underlined but it won't go away.

42 is definitely the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Don't forget about the Vogon poetry ....

Death's not going to be much of a climax if you die in your sleep.
Erk.

you need to read the four books (or was it three?

1.) The hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy.
2.) The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe.
3.) Life, The Universe And Everything.
4.) So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish.
5.) Mostly Harmless.

Definitely a "must read" for those that love a good laugh!

Oh, and we're here to experience the 'gift' that is life... not to ponder it. (imho)

of course the whole point of the "42" thing was that although the answer was simple, it was the original question that was unfathomable

the meaning of life for me? hmmm... as WrecklessEric just said "experience the gift that is life", but more than that - ENJOY IT!

(even if you find pondering it enjoyable )

EventHorizon: What i meant was that the brain still functions (sending and receiving chemical messages to the nervous system) for 6 to 12 minutes. You may have died and cannot move, but it's likely (depending on the death) that you can still receive messages but not send them, as in you can still see and hear and maybe even think etc.

I really don't know how to quote it's useless i press it and it doesn't do anything, so i'll use the good old copy and paste technique.

"Now that question is easy.

Didn't someone before said that 'reason' was a human concept? doesn't anyone maybe think the same thing about start and end? isn't that a human concept also? in that we seem to franction time into sections creating start and end points. If we have infinity, then start and finish is a human concept.

What are people's views on time and motion?

Any minute now someone is going to mention 'a tree falling in the forest'.....

Too bad we don't know what the Question to the universe is. The earth was destroyed just before it finished calculating the Question.

Life is just a game. Proof:

We get to be born ( game begins, but don't really start for few more years ).

We play around, learning all the game is about. We learn facts and gain experience to be ready for the game.

We begins the game by trying to make as much progress in lives as possible.

We die, knowing the final score. Afterlife may be nothing but specters watching and commenting on the game. Or you could make bets and dares and re-enter the game.

Yes, it's silly comment.
