iconx quickie question

Monday, May 24, 2004 by Surj | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

so Im probably idiot, but I finally have a bit of free time and was trying to better familiarize myself with Desktop X, and got stuck. I got most everything down, except for dealing with Icon X.

I can''t seem to figure out how to make icon x activate shortcuts on single clicks. Any thoughts? Also, they don''t seem to like staying on top of desktopx objects, layers, ete, when I first load the theme. Ideas?

thanks

Single click - set in DX config or Control Panel/Folder Options.

Set the icons to normal z-order (although I'm not quite sure what you're asking, so I'll guess)

dx config setting doesnt appear to have any effect on the icon x clicks. Where exactly do you set the icons to z-order? I understand how to do that with normal dx objects, not with icon x though.

thanks for respons

Right click on the DX system tray icon...set it for 'Edit mode' and see if that does what you want.

OK...go to 'Configure IconX.... since I'm not real sure what you're trying to do, whatever it is has to be in there (you can't change it anywhere else).

aye, been there, messed with that. I dont see an option to make icons using icon x respond to single clicks anywhere in there. Also dont see anywhere to modify their ''layers''.

OK...for the single click do either or both:Single click - set in DX config or/and Control Panel/Folder Options.

...and unless someone knows different, I see no way to change the 'layer' as you describe, but sit tight, if there's an answer, someone will come up with it.

single click is already check in dx config on the desktop x thread, it just doesnt seem to have any effect with iconX icons, works for regular objects. The control panel option is not something I want to do, I just want the desktop icons single click, but thanks.

Gotta ya with the desktop clicks only...thought you wanted all....bump this up every now and then and I'm sure one of the wiz kids hangin' about will have an answer for both questions.

I think iconX and desktopX are really sort of independant of one another. The single click option you set in dx config relates only to dx objects and as far as I know iconX icons z order can not be adjusted, they sit on the lowest level of the desktop. As such the only way to have iconX icons react to single clicks is if the global windows icon setting is for single clicks. I have been known to be mistaken from time to time tho...
