I have to agree with Solution design, this is a little immature. I believe this is more of a conflict issue.
If you have received an Email, I''m sure it was for good reason, and not to take it as SPAM but to take it as an invite, so grow up
Geeze, I wish I could get spam nowadays....All I seem to get anymore are Virus after Virus...My Norton is put into overdrive daily.

| a small minority of immature users. |
This thread...a request to visit Wstaylor and the AdvancedPC request thread are very similar in that a member of WC asked for the visit to a site. I read both threads, I visited both sites. Other WC members have done the same here, Bones2112 comes to mind
and every time someone asks on these boards, I go and check it out. If I like what I see and decide I''d like to be a part of it, I''ll join. If not, I don''t join. Please enlighten me as to whether that is what the small minority of immature users do?As for emails, solicited, unsolicited, from a friend, from an acquaintance, from a total stranger asking advice....those are fine, otherwise I wouldn''t have put my email addy in my profile. What I received read more like a sales pitch and like I said in post #37, I hoped that I was wrong. If that be the case then, that it was an email from a friend and not an ad pitch, then I apologise.
Kona....I apologise for the mouthpiece comment, but come on you got to admit an email titled "Kona says...." doesn''t remind you of a media-type endorsing a product on TV? You already did a nice job, actually a better job IMHO, asking people to visit in post #35, so I don''t see why an email was necessary. But your right let''s move on and I don''t want you to think you can''t email me if you like, you can.

| so I don''''t see why an email was necessary. |
well because I wasn''t sure you had read this thread yet and I did think of you when I was asking around.
Others I left out emailing on purpose.
But I did not mean to sound so "advertising" in my emil. I was just excided I guess.
Thanks

I dont want to cause any bad blood for people around here... I really like all of you guys and just wanted a forum for people to blab about anything...The forum is hosted on my web server... I set it up. It is strictly php based... so no other site has control over the database except me!!! I have sent out a few emails to people who signed up (but didnt post anything)... When I first opened the forum I emailed anyone who was in my addy book so that I could tell people that I had been in contact with before about my new forum... I am by no means trying to take over the world... I have not sent out ANY SPAM that isnt directly involved with the forum... if it isnt personalized about the wstaylor forum then it isnt from me... I have never went through WC taking down addys and spamming people about the site... as a matter of fact the only person i received a negative response from on my initial "email" from my outlook address book was Jafo... and he warned me not to send out mail based on addresses from the WC site... I wasnt going to anyway...Essencay - I had your email addy from our correspondence about my website... sorry if i sent you the email about the forum... I just thought you might like it...
NT - "Thanks for Joining" is the only mail that I have sent to you from the forum... No one else of the nearly 50 members has complained about SPAM from "other sources" showing up in their box... so surely it must be a coincidence... If you have recieved mail from me and considered it SPAM then I apologize...
Everyone - If this continues to get out of hand I will have no choice but to shut the thing down... I do not want to be the SPAMMER or the one who is pissing off people that enjoy each others company... I am not trying to compete with any other site... I have NO advertising (except maybe Kona and myself
) and I dont really want to be the bad guy...
Please dont take anything out on Kona, he is just trying to help me... and he has been great... if you want to be pissed at someone, be pissed at me (i am used to it) Also: I am only trying to contribute to the skinning community with this site and forum... isnt that how you get ahead at this site??? I dont understand...
And I am sorry

I see Wincustomize''s forum as a forum for Stardock related products, with a little of Q&A about other things. With wstalor.com, it''s more "open" to talk about anything, almost. Other forums I''ve visited are strictly related to skinning etc.
BTW: If I didn''t get the email from Kona, I would''ve overlook this thread all together and wouldn''t have been able to annoy them there.

1) The owner of wstaylor.net started this thread, Admin KarmaGirl started the AdvancedPC one.
2) I haven''t made any replies with one emoticon in the AdvancedPC thread.
3) I haven''t used it as a method of advertising.
Since Stardock and AdvancedPC are linked together, and WinCustomize is part of the Stardock family too, we all like to help each other out.

Tempus.....
not sure where my above comment would warrant you to ''appear'' to be on the defensive? And I didn''t note any other comment in this thread about AdvancePC. Nowhere does it compare a site owner vs. another WC member asking someone to check out a forum. Nowhere does it mention that you used your thread as a method of advertising. And the emoticon comment was just totally lost on me. I think you are reading more into it than there really is. It is not a comparison between the AdvancedPC thread and this thread or for that matter any other thread where a WC member asked folks to check out a forum. It is only a statement that ''I'' visit, though I don''t always join, every time a WC member posts a thread asking others to check out a forum or site. It was in response to others commenting about the maturity level of users complaining about unsolicited email. I hope this clears that up

Not very kind of you at all.
And so what if we ask you guys to join us? That''''s not spam at all just a friend asking a friend to come see a site. Big deal. Grow up.
Regardless, If I AS a friend can''''t ask you all to come at least say hi(*is that to hard?) Then I guess enough has been said and I will not email anyone anymore unless I have too. An dif I do email I will have nothing to do with WStaylor.net only stricklt business.
We are not TRYING to spam my reasons for the emails are quite clear: I want my friends involved at a good site.
So I guess I owe you all a apology.
So I''''m sorry. Let''''s move on.
