Tilly Norwood, AI Actress

Tuesday, September 30, 2025 by 3java3z | Discussion: Artificial Intelligence

Tilly Norwood, the first AI "actress". It was a announcement that is creating a stir in Hollywood.

Any thoughts?

Does this mean the end of real acting? Or is this just a fad?

There is a cool AI generated star trek short film titled unification where William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are the AI actors. In this case I think it is pretty cool to be able to see both these actors again and hopefully one day we will see more then just a short film. I know for sure that William Shatner is fully on board with AI using his likness in movies. So AI playing actors does have some use here and hopefully more actors get on board with AI using there likeness as they get older.

I don't think AI will ever fully take film roles away from humans though, the way I see it AI is more or less an advanced form of cgi or animation so there is a lot of room for both.

You rightfully raised an excellent question, and got an excellent response. As I see it, the main question here revolves around IP (intellectual property) on two levels, at least: Identity, and consent. Identity and consent are one's ultimate possessions and must be respected. One's identity never becomes the public domain as far as I know ("Dammit 3java3z! I'm a Doctor not a lawyer!"). I could be wrong.

I don't think one's identity should be allowed to be used without one's (or if deceased, his/her heirs') consent.

I anticipate many lawyers (and others) getting rich on questions revolving around identity and characters modeled after famous figures and speculations around their lives, etc.

Another interesting question might be since AI "art" isn't considered at present original, it has no I.P. rights, so is it actionable if a self prompting AI creates the characters, action, music and script instead of a human agent?

All my questions might well be moot since Sora 2 and an iPhone only (at this point) social media app is now on the scene. Check these out:

Next? Deep fake Social media causes complete chaos.

Just my $0.02...and can someone give me an Excedrin?

Well, Bones, perhaps Circumin, White Willow and a herbal muscle relaxant can provide some relief. I am a creative, not a pharmacist!

It's going to be wild, the next year or so. Maybe future blockbusters will be AI, and much cheaper to produce.

I think the first people in the industry likely to get nervous will be the stunt performers/doubles.  They will become redundant when an actor's 'avatar' can be the one risking its neck.

International IP Law NEEDS to catch up NOW, not after the horse has bolted.
