How is the rating determined on files, such as CursorXP files? Thanks.

cumulative average of the opinions of those who post them

However, I believe the ratings are weighted, so that if an Admin gives something an 8, its the equivalent of five seperate 8 votes. Or something like that.

I think anyone who has had work accepted should be able to vote. Seems abit daft that I can be rated and can't rate back. There have been loads of time i'd like to have shown support on some work. But that's just me

I was able to rate (for some reason) until about a week ago. I guess it was discovered that I'm not supposed to be able to yet. I think I'll email an admin about it, since I was being more fair than alot of other people out there. I stated in another thread: "If I dont like the skin, I dont rate it. If I do like it, then I give it an 8 or a 9." I think good behavior should be rewarded. Just my opinion.

Çërêb®øJÐ - I respect your intentions, but surely if everyone rated things that way then everything would get an 8 or 9, which would make the ratings pointless (more pointless?)....isn't it just as important to express an opinion on those things one doesn't like to balance the ratings? IMHO it is much harder to give constructive critisism on something you think could be improved than it is to congratulate someone on something you like...

I've tried to always give reasons in the comments if I've ever voted something a low score (not often), but I don't see voting low as bad - I see it as a difficult duty necessary to balance the privilage of being able to vote high when you like something....

Giving an Admin more leverage on voting can be as bad as it is good, one admin thinks its poor and down goes the rating, but who are we to argue

Voting fairly means you have to vote for the bad ones too. other wise the value of the good ratings s significantly.

Well, if I thought some skins were bad, the odd one got a four, but it kept me from getting too out of control when I had standards like that. Better than: "Ooh that rating is too high for you Mr Essorant. You get a 2 on that skin."

(note: didnt mean to pick on essorant. It could be anyone.)

I know what you're saying though, kongit.

Rate what you think should be the rating, not what will get the rating where you think it should be. I other words if you think a wallpaper should be rated 4, but it is rated 5 by 2 people, don't rate it 2 to get the rating down to 4, but rate it 4 because that is what you think it should be.

Kongit - excactly...and if voting low, try and find a way to give constructive feedback on the reason as well as heaping praise on those you like when voting high

DarkMist....the Admins are trusted [by their position] to be able to rate competently and fairly.

I see their ratings and am yet to see one 'misplaced'....

Same cannot be said for others'....
