I have a Literal Menagerie, in my house. I am One of the Cat Loving crowd,
as well.
In my Zoo, I have 1 Chihauhau (Rocky), 1 English Bulldog (Winnie),
9 Cats (Prissy, Dolly, Patches, Miss Kitty, Skeeter, Baby,Dora, Lil Bit & Punkin.)
3 Feretts (Bonnie, Clyde & Pinky), 2 Rabbits, 4 Forpus Parrotellettes, 1 Lovebird,
1 Quaker, and 1 Panamanian Amazon. A real house full, of Noise I tell you what.

dabe, I wouldn't worry too much about the "wolf" in your dog. If she has some in her, it's not much. Wolves are *much* bigger than she is. Before I moved to where I live now, I encountered some wolf dogs. Apparently there was somebody in the area that I lived in that raised them, then couldn't handle them and let them loose. They were *huge*. From what animal control said, their is a certain mental illness that wolves tend to get when mixed with a dog which tend to make them very aggressive. These roaming wolf dogs were wandering around eating anything that they could find- including small dogs. Animal control had no choice but to take them down as they were afraid that they would kill somebody (they could easily kill a child....did I mention how huge they were?) Unfortunately, they were in my back yard when the animal control caught up with them. They were very aggressive. Even after being shot with a tranquilizer, one of them took after the animal control officers. The officer dove into his car and it attacked the car. Not a nice memory. But, your dog looks nothing like those wolf dogs.
I thought that I had a zoo at home, but I can't compare to CygnusXII.
I have three mini-dachshunds (Quincey, Duke and Roscoe) a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Holly (who is a puppy) - 
I also have a Hamster named Fluffy, a 10 gallon tank of fish and a 55 gallon tank of fish (which houses a gigantic goldfish named Brutus. You can see part of that tank featured as the wallpaper for the Aquarium theme)

*edit edit KG, I also have a mini-dachshund. However we prefer to call them "Teckels"
Notsure if we are talking about the same kind, there are very much species of them. Mine is brown with black, a bit like these one:

Ah, you have a wire haired dachshund.
Mine are- 1 red smooth, 1 red dapple smooth, and a long haired black and tan.
They have three coat types (long, short/smooth (most common) and wire haired) and *tons* of color variations. red and black & tan are the most common, though. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures of them.

Karmagirl, I'm not "worried" about the wolf in her. And, it's definitely there. But, you are right about the content. She's considered to be "low content" wolfdog, in that her mother was 2nd generation part wolf. Her father was purebred Shepherd. But, as I said, as low content as she is, she did retain some of the wolf. Makes for a very cool dog. But, I do know that she cannot run loose in the neighborhood. Not because she's dangerous, but because she's so intimidating looking. That photo on my desktop doesn't even begin to really show what she looks like. And she is very big for a female Shepherd, weighing in at 105 lbs.
I love my lil' doggie. I'm lucky I found her. She's lucky she found me. We needed eachother, for sure.

IPlural, it is shepherd.......I know cause I've 1 and a 1/2, one purebred and the other is a border collie/sherpherd.[Message Edited]
