The actual animation files are stored in your shell32.dll and another .dll file in your system32 folder, but the copy animation is in shell32.dll. which I highly recommend you don't play with. But if you want to, google for a progrma called restorator. It will allow you to export and change the resources in files including shell32. I won't explain how to do it though because I don't want to be held responsible for you messing up your puter.

Windows accept the "save as."
I did save it and Windows asked me to overwrite. I selected "Yes"
All is well, but it reverts back to the Win XP default animation.
Question is, are these files in shell32.dll not editable?

If I'm not mistaken, XP, unlike previous Windows OS's has protected system files and will automatically restore any system file that is not right next reboot. I wouldn't try it, but I read that if you went directly to the files for WM9 and deleted them, XP would restored them the next time it rebooted.

I was working on converting a msstyle and the author also made the shutdown and startup dialogues, along with the animations and toolbar icons, and most of the system icons. So I decided to see what they actually look like so I could port them correctly. After I looked I replaced the modified files with the originals and went on my way converting. I used restorator to get the dialogues, toolbar icons and animations out of the files and then I put them into the windowblind file. Now I am just waiting on ChaNinja to respond to me so I can upload the windowblind if he lets me.

| I slept around a lot before I even got close to trying it. |
