OK what should I do?

Wednesday, December 10, 2003 by kona0197 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I pulled all my icons so I could remake them and sharpen them up a bit.

Should i make them all 128x128? I like that size.

I will be resizing, adding details, glass effects if I can, and shapening all of them.

To the admin who is moderating my uploads: I am so sorry But this is a learning experinence for me.

easy to make a circle or square yeah, not detailed images,
Mormegil creates all his icons in vector, and I don't think anyone would say his work is not detailed, but what do I know, you're the expert.
plus I'm keeping in mind all kona is wanting to do is object dock
And yet you recommend he spend hundreds on Photoshop.

but if your going to tell me mormegils' icons are "easy" to make I'll call your bluff

I also said it depends what your doing and IF it's worth the money, and photoshop is undeniably worth every penny

As I said before, Kona, if you really want to do this, start making your own, simple icons. Then you won't need to sharpen or add glassy effects. Icons needn't be app-specific, and in my opinion the best ones aren't. The most useful icons for skinners are the ones we can plug in and use for a whole class of apps or tasks.

Sure, most people start out doing what you are doing, but at some point they all get really pissed, toss out all the crap they are trying to gild, and learn to do it from scratch themselves. Learn about icons, what goes into making them from scratch.

Don't expect to be back here the next day stunning people. About the time I think you have gone off to learn a bit you come back and start asking what to do again.

Provided you use every single feature in it...Which I highly doubt Kona will ever do... Unless you have the urge to spend $600, I dont think its worth it...

right, but thats what "if it's worth the money" means, if its worth it to kona, he should get it, if not he shouldn't

I agree with bakerstreet. All of my Object Dock Icons don't represent the app they link to. Right now they they are mostly Jairo B's Christmas Icons. They used to be cars, simpsons, futurama, western styles. Search the net for interesting icons and you might find some divine inspiration

I will not spend $$$ for photoshop when I already have it on my mac. Just got to get a better mac thats all.

I think I will get PSP 8 and go from there. My icons will be ready sometime next year as i will take my time.

Why even have a Mac when you mostly use Windows?

Nuff said.

OK OK I'll say bit more.. JPG format damaged the smooth gradients, but it does look really good for few minutes work. Nothing's imported or anything.
