Need your opinion.

Expand my desktop picture out to full size, it’s set at 1280 x 1024 witch is the resolution I’m using. I still need to add the footprints, and figure out what I’m going to do with the gray part above and below the picture in the middle. If I decide to (try) upload it there will be 2 in the zip file one with and one with the poem “Footprints”. But for now would like to get a feel of what people think of it as it is now, or even what you think would make it better.

DD, just my oppinion, the upper rock isn't smooth enough in my oppinion, you could try to make a little layer of dust above the surface just to get the sand feeling. Render the sand and the air also in the strokes and then after effect them in photoshop so they are a little bit darker in tint.
Just those small things and its perfect IMO, very impressive indeed.

I like it and can not wait to see the finished shot. The only thing I might look into that you might not have seen or thought of.
On the right hand rock formation, something down below it ( broken up rocks ) to show some aging and decay, also it would help break the line between the rock formation and the ground. I don't mean hide it all, just break it up a bit like you see out in Monument Vally and the Red Stone formations worn by the elements and time.
mmm, also on the same formation where the right hand side of it is closer yet on the same vanishing point so it looks as if there isn't any depth, or it messes with depth perception I should say...

Try to resist the idea of adding poetry....it's a wall, not literature...
Quite nice, the under-stated emptiness....and always a good idea to stop before overworking ruins an idea...

I am not crazy about the texture on the rocks. Hard for me to find a generic term, but in archaeological terms it looks like flint napping, the method used to make arroheads, etc. I don't think that 'chipped away' texture is what you are going for, it doesn't really look like natural weathering.
I think even unnaturally smooth would lend more to 'suspension of disbelief' than the texture you have there now. Somewhere in-between would be best. Just my opinion.

I like it how it is, I think the poem will be fine, as long as it's available without it, as most people will want it without. And as always, glad to see your still at it

Witch upper rock are you talking about, upper left or the upper right? Also as far as the Photoshop program I don’t have it, and any thing I create has to be done the hard way, I don’t have a single plugin filter for any of my programs. (3D Studio Max, Paint Shop Pro)

I am not a bible beater but there is something I like about the poem Footprints. I am not sure what it is but I was thinking about it the other day and this scene is what came to mind.

I was not overly crazy about the texture myself. Most 3D artist use ether a texture CD pack or they use Photoshop to create their textures. I don’t have ether, so I have to create them in Paint Shop Pro or create them in max itself; witch is not an easy task.
