The court system is completely out of control and justice is becoming very unfair.
I just heard that the Kobe Bryant case is at the point today to decide if there is going to be a trial. "Now keep in mind this is not my complaint so read on." If he is convicted he could face life in prison for rape. Give me a break! Not that rape is not a horrid crime but I am not buying this case in the first place. what the heck was she doing in his room in the first place then. Way too many groupies within the celebrity circles.
Now this is my real complaint.
A case here is Wisconsin from late last year. A drunk elderly driver crosses the median on the express way and kills a 5 year old boy and a 6 month old girl leaving the mother and father of these children completely devastated.
He gets 3 to 4 years in prison for his crime.
Please tell me where is the justice? >

If someone is drunk and by that causing an accident killing 2 people he should also be locked away MUCH longer.
Yeah, sure it was an accident, just like getting into the car 'by accident'.
BTW, you think your system is wrong? Come to holland, if you kill someone here you will get away with 3 years if it was 'an accident' and if you kill people on purpose it isn't that much longer.
When you arrive in jail you have your own private room, including roomservice, television, airco and all the extra's. Lately the news told us that a guy was running an 'escort' service from jail.

paxx, if she can get a settlement out of him, she will drop the charges and then there won't be a case. So the law will let him go.

Also paxx, a separate civil suit can be filed here. Where he ends up in jail or not she can still go to still court and sue for a ton of money

There was one case in Kazahstan or somewhere there, when a 'just married' couple fired with shotguns in sky (at night) as a salute. They did take down one airplane, one man died. And they are innocent ?

I actually live in the Los Angeles County area in California where all the trials are happening or of major concern to the community. Kobe Bryant is a Lakers star and we would hate to lose him. If he is guilty then that is the end of his career, no doubt.
What I find interesting about it all is the panties issue. If Kobe did rape her as she described, why was semen for another man found on her panties, not Kobe's as I understand? Also, I think I heard that she even changed panties. Did she do this so that she would have on the panties that she was wearing the night of the alleged rape, or did she change panties in an attempt to fool people by wearing some with semen on them. And she was stupid enough to believe that science couldn't figure out that the semen wasn't Kobe's. Something is wrong, very wrong with this girl, and her story, and her sex life in general. Personally, I think Kobe was set up.
O.J. Simpson is another case completely. Any man who beats a woman, as O.J. did, is a coward. He is sick. He was guilty. And, Nicole(his slain wife) was money hungry and paid with her life, god rest her soul. I actually met her mother and sister.
Our justice system rests on one thing if you haven't figured it out yet. M-O-N-E-Y
But, don't focus on African American trials of celebrities, look at the Kennedy trials too.M-O-N-E-Y

Well, in theory, here in Canada, a victim can't drop charges, because the victim isn't the one prosecuting. Only the State can drop charges. But in practice, what can happen is that in the case where the victim is the only witness, she can say that she lied in the first place. But in that case, if the case is then dismissed, the former accused can turn around and sue the girl for lying in the first place and therefore causing harm to his reputation. She would never be allowed to sue him under civil court if she admitted having lied in her original deposition.

Crime has become legal a long time ago, and it should be obvious to everyone who followed the last US presidential race. As always, power is in the hands of a few and those who abide by the law can work their whole lives just to pay the people who are in power.

Colorado state law is far more stringent on this sort of thing than some other states. Just as Texas is about other things and some things/acts are prohibited in one state that are legal in another. State laws vary. So one should take that into account.
One might also say that a multimillionaire celebrity must be careful since people may want to take advantage of him or blackmail him. Although if the woman just wanted to make trouble for him (if it was consensual as he claims) a far more financially rewarding approach without public scrutiny and death threats would have been to make some accommodation as no doubt frequently happens without *any* publicity. That she didn't take that approach is interesting.
As for Bryant, at least he's not some poor schmuck with no money for lawyers who winds up spending 10-20 years in jail until DNA tests exonerate him. Bryant likely will get the best "justice" money can buy.
Anyway, state laws vary from state to state. (And as Johnny Cochran might say: if there's any doubt, don't take it out.)

Something that really gives me giggles is the fact that Martha is facing prision and Lay got to keep millions and is free as can be.

I find her quip and proper and also feel she looks down her nose at everyone as if they are below her. Of course most rich people do to some extent when class is the defining wall placed between them.
Lay though ruined peoples lives for his personal gain and got away with it as did and do many CEO's and other top management.
oh well...

Why do people hate Martha Stuwart so much? She hasn't done any worse than many many other corporate CEO's. Is it because she's a woman? A woman that can be as much a crook as a man seems too unnatural?

Not for me paxx, and I do not hate her. I do not care for her personality because of the similarities with others who have done me harm in the past, but I do not pile that baggage upon her. I just find I do not care for her, though I do find that she is getting the shaft while Lay ran off with the Gold mine and seems to get nothing more than a a dull look.
As far as her being a woman goes, she forgot her place in many peoples opinion I think.
When a Man questions someone or promotes with vigor he is insightful and holds to his convictions.
When a woman does the same she is a bitch and/or on the (at that time of month)...
When a man advances faster than everyone else he is talented, when a woman does the same she is sleeping with the boss...

My wife constantly deals with the issue of body parts hanging in all the wrong places so she is treated as being less than male. Even though I would put her up againt anyone on this site or just about anyone I can think of as a CIO, CFO and in most instances CEO in the Medical arena. When those people need voice in dealing with such as Medical Manager they flock to her and she is their voice, when they have need for deeper under standing of Federal and State Grants and funding they call her, when they need back ground on products, ROI and otherwise they call her. Yet those same men who hold the same position as she does or has in the past have always been paid $15,000 and much more than she was.
Oh and they always taken the credit...
So as I said, for me her being female isn't an issue for me.
