Ok I poured my heart into this wallpaper and....

Monday, September 15, 2003 by naitsirch79 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I put up a wallpaper the other day, and I am assuming that it didn't make it because it is not in my uploads anymore. Although I dissagree with this. I would at least like to know whether it got denied or not. It is sort of just in limbo. Now, IMO it is pretty nice work and would be an excellent wallpaper for someone.

This new submission I know is good so I would like to know exactly how this works and why my other submission might not have gotten accepted. I put many hours into my work so I can't keep making wallpaper designs if they aren't going to be used...

Ok, here is my 2 cents, for what it is worth.

The "pumpkin" one- was it ever submitted?  I never saw it in the que.  If so,I think that it should have been accepted, but with about a 3 or 4 rating due to style inconsistency and the fact that I didn't find it to work particularly well as a wall (and I hate the text).  I would say to take the suggestions that were made in this thread, fix it, then resubmit it.  I would also kindly ask that you take this to the "skinning" discussion section the next time and ask for constructive criticism instead of asking "why wasn't this accepted", as you will have a warmer reception.

I was the final moderator on your fuzzy water scene (don't remember what you called it, but you posted it on here).  There are many reasons why it was rejected, and it was rejected by several moderators.

And, I am curious, but what the heck was this supposed to mean: "Have you ever heard of columbine?"  I really did not care for that remark one bit, and would like an explanation.

In reference to post about Jairo.Nobody is suggesting that he either invented or owns the glass technique. He has just perfected the style to the point where he is immediately identified by it.Any artist that wants to try the effect will be automatically compared to him so you better get good at it if you want any respect.Jairo may not have exclusive right to produce this type of image but he has a style all his own and highly recognizable.

The 'magic' pumpkin is still alittle crude and garish for me .It just looks shiny with poorly done overly pointy water spots.

I imagine before long tho(with practice)you could be a fine artist.

Karmagirl, first off thank you. Secondly my comment about Columbine was in whole a recognization on "ganging up" or "bullying" someone. Which is what I felt was happening to me. I meant no disrespect and want everyone to know that. But seriously, cliques aren't good. And for those of you who appreciated or like my work, even if you though I could improve, those comments are much appreciated. So, Sorry to anyone and everyone I have offended and I will take a quote from a famous drunk motorist. Can't we all just get along. "Rodney King"...

naitsirch79, I suggest you refrain from the offensive comments, whether they're intended as jokes or otherwise. First Columbine, and now Rodney King. You have a serious judgment problem.

As for your wallpapers, while you obviously show the potential to grow into a good artist your work currently doesn't show a professional quality or attention to detail which wallpapers generally require to be accepted and used on a widespread basis. I agree that there's nothing wrong with being inspired by another's work, and I suggest that you keep taking inspiration from those around you while you improve your abilities. What you might try to do however is develop your own personal style, rather than attempting to emulate someone else's.

The first wallpaper looks more like an experiment with the tools and filters in Photoshop rather than a well thought out attempt at creating a wallpaper. It's very much a 'learning' piece as opposed to a finished product. I would say the same with the second wallpaper. While you're obviously starting to know your way around the various tools, I would suggest spending a little more time on composition and the finer details.

You show potential, so don't feel that a couple of rejections are an outright criticism of your abilities, either current or future.

I forgot to add something. Although you may view the relationships beetween and attitudes of those on this site as a 'clique', we're really just a bunch of friendly types who like to encourage each other to produce the best work we can. There's certainly nothing about the dynamic of this group which prevents others from joining in, and we welcome new blood on a daily basis. All you need is the right attitude to what we do here, and the ability to listen to the opinions of others.

As someone who has been on the outside of some genuine 'cliques', both on the Internet and in day-to-day life, I can assure you that the kind of behaviour which generally goes on in those kind of groups would assure any similar group here immediate exile. We encourage a friendly constructive atmosphere on this site, and that's just how we like it.

Fascinating in a kind of verbal train wreck sort of way. 4 for 4 by my count so far. sig101 wonders how many more feet this fellow will sprout and manage to shove into his own mouth.

All this because of a freakin pumpkin? Good Grief, Charlie Brown.
