Can I change the location to which DreamMaker Pro Exports?

Friday, May 7, 2021 by DaveRI | Discussion: DeskScapes

I'd like to go somewhere other than My Docs and I'm not seeing a way to change it either by default or during the export.  If there isn't any way, I think it would be a nice option to add   .  I'm talking about the target of this function:

Thanks.

Hello,

In the Creator version of Dream Maker Pro NO, can't change that

export location , but of course you can move it after export.

Made easy for dream makers to find the export .

In the Stand Alone version of Dream Maker

then you can choose where you export the Dream file ...

Oh there's a stand alone version of Dream Maker? I never knew that, I only thought it came with DeskScapes 11. Where can I get that version of Dream Maker Pro???

Also, this may be off topic, but I wasn't sure where to ask this question about Dream Maker Pro. I have this planet picture & I wanted to make the planet part spin without having to make the whole picture spin such as with the glass ball effect. I thought of simply cutting out the planet portion with Paint.net, then paste that into a new file & save it, then open that file up in Dream Maker Pro & use the glass ball effect on the planet to make it spin within my still background, kind of like the Desktop Earth dream, but I'm not sure if that will work. Any ideas would be helpful...

If I understand him correctly - and I may not be - he's referring to the DreamMaker.exe program that also ships with DeskScapes.  It resides in C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\DeskScapes\DreamMaker and you can double-click it to run it.  I don't believe there is a shortcut to it installed.  It's more of a dream packaging tool than a creative tool.

I haven't played with the Glass Ball effect a lot, but it's easy enough to play with.  You might be able to come up with something you like.  I wouldn't spend a lot of time on the initial image up front, I'd just load it in, see what it does, then decide what you might do with it from there, how you might change the initial image.  I really don't know how it might work out, I just threw a wallpaper into it and let it spin.

I think I meant to ask about the EditorDeskScapes.exe program. That's what runs when I click on Create Animated Background in DeskScapes. I discovered that I can run that program by double-clicking on it, but if I do it that way, it loads up the default background instead of whatever background I choose in DeskScapes. That's okay though because I can always select a different background. Thanks for the suggestions, they were helpful.

As for the animation part, I tried the copy & paste thing I asked about in a previous post & it was almost what I wanted, except it rotated the whole image instead of only the globe part when I tried the glass ball effect on that image. I was thinking I may need something like Blender, but I never used that before, so I'm not real sure how that works. I only make these dreams as a hobby & all, so I wouldn't wanna have to buy some expensive professional product like After Effects or a similar product to animate what I want to animate. I'm not sure if there's any kind of 3D/2D animation effect that would let something in a picture spin, jump, etc. built into the DeskScapes Editor program. I just wanna be sure I'm on the right track with this & all...

I did fool around for a couple of minutes with a good-sized image of the moon that I had around.  This looked like it had some potential - I cropped the wallpaper down to a square around the moon, making a basically square image of a moon on a black background.  Then I resized that image, resizing and distorting the round moon, to 1920x1080 and loaded it into the ball, and the ball basically reverses the distortion.

If I used the "Periodic" motion setting in the Ball Effect it rotated back and forth which looked pretty good but not the constant spin you're looking for.  Using the "Spin Left" or "Right" options though gave me a moon following itself around in the ball, which I suppose was a little amusing...

I tried what you tried & it was almost but I still saw the edges in my globe image. I don't know how to get rid of the edges & make it look like a globe without the use of third-party software. Think I'll try Blender for that task... plenty of YouTube videos on that & it's completely free, so nothing but time to lose there.   I'll play around with it & stuff to see what I can come up with. Thanks for the suggestions & stuff.
