You know who's even worse than the meat industry though? The milk industry. They not only enslave cows (wasn't slavery banned by the thirteenth amendment?), but they also have advertisements that fool people into believing that milk is actually good for them, when it will actually only fatten them up, and sometimes even KILL THEM. Besides, calcium can be found in oranges. Therefore, milk and its industry are sickening, and anybody who is not at least a level seven vegan (we don't eat anything that casts a shadow) sickens me!

Best hamburgers is at Harveys. Char broiled and thet put what ever you want on it. The worst is McDonalds. It's not even real hamburger and they stick ketchup and pickles on it that soak through the bun. Plus they use that garbage Alberta beef that makes you sick and croak! God Damn Canadians! The best hamburger wrap is Burger King. Probably cause I work at the place that manufactures the wraper. BK whopper is what I'm working on now (12" x 16"). Box of 4,000, piled on a skid 8 per layer, 6 layers high. Next time one of you clowns eats a BK whopper, just remember all the sweat I put into it making the wrapper for you!

#1 on the list is fresh off the grill. Wife makes the patties, I cook em!

#2 would probably be Fudruckers although we used to have a little local stand called Juicy's that were killer. Not only in taste but man those things were regular cholesterol bombs!

calcium can be found in oranges.

I do have a thing about the milk industry (mainly because my daughter is allergic to "regular" milk but can drink Organic which makes me wonder what kind of chemicals and hormones are in milk...) But you are wrong on the "oranges have calcium" idea.  Oranges have Vitamin C, but they *add* calcium to orange juice.  What does have calcium in it?  Legumes, and dark green veggies.

Anyway, back to the burger discussion. Boca Burgers, which are my favorite, are finding their way into many restaurant chains as a meat alternative.  If you have never tried one, then you really don't know what they are.  They are different from most of the "veggie" patties because they are made from textured soy.  They are also not grainy or dry.  Both Red Robin (not sure how big that chain is) and Bennigans restaurants serve them as an alternative in any of their burgers.  They are really good substituted in a mushroom burger since mushroom burgers tend to have a lot of fat from cheese and moisture from the mushrooms.......this discussion makes me want to go out for a burger....

Next time, let's consider in the context of the fries as well.

we already did that one long time ago.

KarmaGirl:
I think that you also meant "vegetarian" instead of vegan.
My youngest daughter is a vegetarian. I actually did mean vegan and am very aware of the difference between the two. In my experience, it's the vegans that go off frothing at the mouth.

Speaking of which:

And you have facts to support this do you? I spend a good deal of my day reviewing food safety and sanitation reports from both Canada and the US through FSNET, Foodsafe and FoodNavigator. If you want to blather allegations, point out your resources.

Chef Garry has a flashback about similar demands made about copyrights. Better drop this one before it gets ugly

On reflection, I realize I've come on way too strong here. The whole issue has touched a nerve, particularly in light of the incredible damage done to the Canadian beef industry and the whole BSE thing.

I do apologize for getting riled up.

Itz also OK to have a healthy dislike for ignorance and cruelty. Can anyone tell me what the ratio of USDA Inspectors versus Kill Floors iz? How about the last huge beef or chicken recall? Which of your favorite Burger chains have been sued for killing people?Have any of you seen a family in anguish over a beautiful child,in the hospital, trying to recover from tainted beef/chicken,i.e. E-Coli? Meatheads unite !! The medical Industry iz counting on you !! Colon cancer,Heart disease,Anti-Bio tics no longer work due to the fact they are so heavily used in the Kill Industry.BTW,Chef Gary,I work and live in the cattle/chicken industry,I have seen first hand of what I speak. So I guess if you want to call it an uninformed opinion thats yer right, but NOTHING could be further from the truth.

brazil: your argument screams not "I work in the cattle/chicken industry." but "I read Fast Food Nation and now I'm an expert on everything related to it."

Who cares?
Chickens and cows are part of the food chain.
And tasty to boot.

Go tell a Great White thats its not nice to mangle/cripple then eat later a seal.

Better yet, tell a Killer Whale its not nice to toss that half alive seal around for 20min.
Its not nice to play with your food.

I'll make sure to remember that....
And, I don't think Chef Garry said that he dislikes vegetarians (since his daughter is one....)

Did you see finding Nemo?  That statement reminded me of the reformed sharks who had their meetings about "fish are our friends not our food".  It was pretty funny.

So, how many people have gone out and eaten a burger because of this thread?

Haven't got around to it yet. I'm planning on tuna cakes for supper tonight. Perhaps some asparagus in brown butter, steamed rice and maybe a Sauvignon Blanc from my cellar (I make my own wine by cruelly and thoughtlessy fermenting harmeless grapes).
