If you have any coding experience try to open a wmp skin in winzip (HINT HINT), if yuo don't have any experience, try to code cool player firtst, lot easier.

I think there is a Winamp editor out there some where on the net for version 2.x that could be used to put the graphics together so the source could be read and figured out. Then apply what is discovered in coding wmp?

Yeah, there is a winamp v.2 skin editor out there (something called "skinner" I can remember, nothing much, just import your own background)
There is also a winamp v.2 transformer to WMP, however it das look crapy in that case.
But for example winamp V.3 is coded in .xml files, and wmp in .xml AND java. personaly prefer coding winamp, but it isn't used that much...

WindowsMedia skins are composed of bitmaps, an XML file (which is used to specify wher the bitmaps go, and a Javascript file to provide any more intelligence that the skin may need (animation, opening a window when button is clicked...)
Unfortunately There's no WindowsMedia skin builder utility. You can go to the link in the previous message. That has information on how to do this. I think it should also have a link to the downloadable SDK and samples which can be used to learn how to build your own (starting simple of course and getting more fancy as you learn)

WMP uses javascript? I thought it uses J-script (microsoft's version of javascript)
XML isn't to hard, I would advise taking a look at w3schools website and also taking a look at the samlpe windows media player code.
That way you will get the hang of it. then you can move forward to other things....
Me, personally, I can't wait until SkinStudio helps with making WMP. Although I don't think they should compromise the ability to make a good skin but having stamped players (but us newbies have to start somewhere)

Yeah you should have no real problem. JScript is just Microsoft's implementation of Javascript. Actually Microsoft submitted it to ECMA for standardization so it's also could be referred to as ECMAScript
JScript, like VBScript, is an ActiveScript language (which can be hosted in any app) and has functionality beyond Javascript to work with COM/Automation objects
