Day In the life of an Old Crab....DeskTop X 2

Tuesday, August 5, 2003 by Old_Crab | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

This day turned out great! First thing I decided to do was to just take a day. The lawn needed mowing so I bet Pint I could finish half the lawn before he could. Usually it takes over 7 hours for one person to mow my lawn, but with 2 folks mowing it takes only 1/2 the time.(Duh). Usual bet is who brand of beer is bought and slurped down after mowing. And wouldn't ya know, the Old Crab lost. St.Pauli Girl was Pints choice. Yuk. Then off to clean up down at the aquifer where the water is a cool 62 degrees. At a time like this I'm thinking of Poor Old Werewolf working in that hot warehouse and how he'd enjoy a dip about now. Teehee. Of course afterwards you have got to slather and slither around in the mud. Odd thing this year. The aquifer is full of Rainbow minnows, and when the sun hits their scales it's like a discotheque exploding. Now for the good part. We hopped on our mowers and headed to the PUMPKIN PATCH! Instead of 4 acres of qourds like last year we only planted 1 acre and devoted it to the Morgan Extreme, Illumanti, and regular Jacks. (Some Pie too!) We started earlier than last year too and have made special care in the requirments for Pumpkin growing. We're going to win the prize and glory this year for biggest, shapliest, and heaviest Pumpkin. Already on one vine we have a Morgan weighing in at 138 lbs. and at an average of 3 or 4 pounds a day we'll have a whopper. We've invited everybody we know to come and help carve them up a day or two before Halloween. Now, for the reason of this post. We all know DX 2 is a fantastic enviorment. So how about some special Objects to go with it, hmmmmmmm. A haunted house with ghosts floating in and out of the garretts and glowing Jack O Lanterns in the windows. How about ghosties fading in and out of sight. As anyone can tell Falls my favorite time of year. Christmas too! I know. I can see it now. All the artisans are saying "hey, Old Crab, why don't you try it yourself!". Believe me I've tried and tried. Even bought a Wacom tablet, Paint Shop Pro 7, POV Ray, and various other gimmickery and still a person just has to have the knack. I don't. However, I can grow humongous PUMPKINS! Take that Britney Spears!

Thanks China for the Trick or Treat link. However, I was probably the first one to jump on it way back in 2001! Maybe it'll be updated - however, don't wager on it. >

Old Crabs prize pumpkin is now at 163 lbs. and with the recent rain will probably add 7 lbs overnight. Tommorrow I'll get Pint and a few folks here abouts to help turn it so that its' circumfernce is kept about equal on all sides.I've named it BORG.(Big Orange Round Gourd). >
