I mean, i have heard alot of stories about Corel, Unlead Photoimpact and what not.I would like to get some of your feed back on which of these programs would you recommend a newperson to start off from. Thank you.

Too steep a learning curve for a newbie .... no disrespect intended Your Jafoship.
IMHO Jasc Paint Shop Pro is a good beginner program and at the moment PSP7 is selling at knockdown prices.
I would think it would be worth starting in PSP7 and upgrading to PSP8 when you feel comfortable RL.
A word of caution .... don't use Bryce!

I was thinking more on the context of the question.
I certainly wouldn't regard Photoshop as being a beginner's program and PSP8 is still loaded with bugs .... one of the fixits is a registry hack!!
Not very pleased, a good example of the consumer test-flying the unfinished product ... >
Other programs that turn out interesting wall graphics, Corel Painter 8 and Metacreations Deep Paint 2, both good excuses to buy that nifty Wacom tablet I've always wanted ....
