Ok........ here are the comments by various moderators........ I'm removing the names........
The water and the sun reflection look "wrong"
light-source for the ship is wrong
Peter Pan-esque color scheme, plastic boat and the fact that the boat is 'sitting' on top of the water is all wrong too...
There you have it..........

Oh and the comment "Peter Pan-esque color scheme, plastic boat and the fact that the boat is 'sitting' on top of the water is all wrong too" just let them know it's not suppose to be real.
Thanks again.Reply #6 Friday, June 27, 2003 3:36 AM

Lecrayon : I just wanted to know why and I knew I was gonna get "Here we go again". But it's just a picture, it won't be the last. Maybe someone will read this and know that their walls are being looked at for the composition of their work and not just "Well that's ugly" or "I wouldn't want that on my desktop". I will say some walls here are questionable for my taste, I just figure some moderator was up late on a Friday night with a drink in one hand and a shot in the other pushing the wrong buttons, you know how it goes.

before you all flame me, know I am not criticizing wc's mods, merely stating why I might dl one wall over another.

I think I'll edit a 'wall' that was submitted [and rejected]...upload it and link to it here.
It'll serve as a wonderfull example of what does hit the cutting-room floor in moderation.
Moderation 'may' stop the odd wall that many might like, and it also 'may' let through the odd wall that many may NOT like.
But it does catch some real gems of intellectually sublime mastery....to the relief of MOST...

Those of you with a knowledge of anatomy can fill in the blanks...
I'm still trying to work out exactly on how many levels this submission actually fails as an acceptable wall submission.
Probably just the colour, don't you think?....

| #10 by kona0197 - 6/27/2003 5:58:00 PM i use walls from digital blasphemy. They are alot more cherful. I have not found any walls here YET that were not centered around the darker colors... |
Obviously, you have not looked very hard.... For instance, look at Shmoopy's stuff. (That's just one artist of many that make "lighter" stuff)
And, there is cartoon and whimsical stuff, just check out PERERKOFF's wallpapers.
But, the bottom line is: if three different admins comment about "wrong" things in a wall, then it will be rejected. Here is the last part of the "guidelines" (please note the 3 parts that pertain to why this particular wall was rejected):
A few examples of what will never get through moderation:
- Britney Spears or other celebrity wallpapers (see note about copyright above)
- Bryce art, unless the result is so astonishing that one could never tell it was done in Bryce.
- Dolphins, palm trees, metal spheres or other over-used elements - XP-related walls, unless really innovative/original.
- Copyrighted photos/images
- Confused composition...eg...3D artwork with conflicting light-sources belying the form.
- A ground-swell of negativity from a significant number of admins.
1) there is no doubt that it was made in Bryce.
2) Though it is not completely "confused composition", the organic bits were not "right" (water, sun reflection, etc.)
3) There were three admins who commented then a 4th that rejected it. (That's considered a significant number of admins).
But, knowing why it was rejected, if you were to fix the water (so that it looks like a real water texture) and correct the sun reflection and ship lightsource, then put in the "comments" *why the ship is on top of the water, then it would most likely get through.
edited due to forgetting to say half of what I was going to post....not enough coffee yet this morning

This light source cast from the sun does not reflect across the water next to the hull in front, to the same vanishing point either so the consistency is lost there (with the sun as the single source of light, the shadows and reflection should match no matter what perspective you are seeing the ship from.
Also there is not any indication of forward movement, with the sails pulled as they are, there would be some kind of wake starting at the bow and running the full length of the hull with even more displacement at the and around the rudder diminishing to the natural swells and current at some distance depending on the depth of the hull and the speed of the ship through the water (water displacement is pretty much key when your working with objects in water).
Other than that I like it, though I would probably like to see more detail in it at various places. At the moment it looks to be more of a liquid metallic which is fine as it is, just that everything seems to be made up of the same material and leaves me thinking "maybe this, or maybe that would perfect it so it draws one into it"
That's being viewed with my limited critical eye.
To look at it, just see it, looks nice
and my daughter really likes it (she's 8) also.anyway, my un`ed'juma-kated thought's

KarmaGirl...if that were true you would have to reject...say...95% of the Wallpapers at Wincustomize.
