I feel dumb asking this but how does one go about just launching the dock when you have Winstep Extreme? There are times when I do not want Nextstart or the WorkShelf active, sometimes I only want to use the dock.

Everything in Winstep Xtreme is modular, so it can be enabled/disabled at will.

For instance, when you say you don't want NextSTART, if what you actually mean is the NextSTART taskbar (so you can still access the 100% customizable NextSTART menu by bumping the top left screen corner), all you need to do is open NextSTART Preferences, go to the Taskbar tab and clear the 'Allow NextSTART to replace the Windows taskbar' setting, then press OK.

If you REALLY do not want to have NextSTART running, all you need to do is exit the application. If you do not want it to run EVER, then open NextSTART Preferences, go to the General tab and disable 'Run NextSTART at Windows Startup'.

As for the Shelf in WorkShelf, open WorkShelf Preferences and go to the Docks & Shelves tab. From there you can enable/disable all the currently active Shelves, Docks and Drawers. You can also do the same via each dock/shelf/drawer 'Dock and Shelf Management' right click context sub-menu.

Same thing for the desktop modules, you can right click any of the desktop modules for options to open/close other modules, or you can do that from the Modules tab in WorkShelf Preferences.

I disable NextStart easily. Right click on the taskbar and click on exit NextStart. Done. No need to open preferences.

Can't figure out why I can't access any Modules/Widgets in Nexus Ultimate, or do I need Winstep Xtreme?

Shouldn't matter. On the Nexus dock there is an icon that can hide or show all the widgets. Its the white one with the gray center. Hope that helps.

Ross, that only exists in Winstep Xtreme. You won't see it if you only have Nexus.

Yes but it should also be in Ultimate which Don says he has.

No. I just worked this issue out with Don, but for future reference only Winstep Xtreme features the free form desktop version of the modules. Nexus and Nexus Ultimate only support modules as icons on docks, etc...

Easiest way to know what does what before you buy is by referencing THIS PRODUCT COMPARISON PAGE.

I have another unreleased theme that Winstep commissioned from Vstyler some years ago, but it is still 100% in PSD format only.

Here is what I am going to try to do: instead of putting it together by editing the configuration files directly (or asking WebGizmos to help me with that) I am going to use this as an opportunity to keep developing the Winstep Theme Builder, so I can use that to put the theme together. Good opportunity to eat my own dog food and also motivate me to finish the damn thing.

Well, at least there's plenty of good will on my part... let's see if I can back that up with some action. Sigh. lol

Reading this thread is a joy. It convinces me skinning is FAR from dead.

Just a quick question. How do I get the browser icon to point to my default browser which is now Chrome again. I uninstalled Opera and rebooted but it doesn't open Chrome. Its still pointing at Opera.
