Deprecated in WB4?Does that mean skins look different(better)in WB3?

Several settings in skinstudio say deprecated in WB4.What's happening here?If this means what i think it means then people using using WB3 are gonna get a different look than the one in my screenshot.Maybe better maybe not because i cant see what my settings are doing.(i'm using WB4)

I think thats the 'deprecated' they used... Not sure though.

Thats what i thought but why?The features i'm talking about specifically are the settings for text fonts on the start menu and text mouseover color.Sometimes the normal color can look fine but since the mouseover dosnt change colors it may not work with your mouseover bmp.(somtimes blending in to invisibility)Why would they discontinue this feature?People using WB3 may get some unusual effects with skins designed for WB4 .Alot of the personality of a skin is in the fonts the skinner chose.

Actually the settings say 'Depreciated in WB3'. I think what it basically means is that instead of having two seperate attribute, say for example mouseover font colour on toolbar buttons, one for XP and one for non-XP, the attribute that's not marked as depreciated will supercede the old one and will be used for all OS's.
Although I'm taking a guess at that, so I may very well be way off.

Mine says deprecated in WB4.If you cant set them for WB4,why are they there?This was a big stumbling block while designing my first skin and i would like to figure it out before i start another.Heeelp.

If all the "deprecated" images follow the same rules as for the checkbox and radio buttons, then those are the images that wb3 will use on non XP systems, and also people who may still be running wb2 will have the deprecated images shown rather than the main images.

I understand (i think) that previous versions of WB or nonxp syatems might have settings that dont apply to them and have to use os defaults ,but this is the reverse of that.There are settings for both WB3 and WB4.The settings for 4 are deprecated and do nothing(tho i REALLY wish they would)the settings for 3 sometimes work and sometimes dont.My clock text would not change fonts until i set it with WB3 settings although i run WB4.If i only set the change for WB4 nothing would happen.

Settings marked deprecated will still work with WB4, but there are new sections which offer improvements and will override the older section/attribute if they are included.

Its very unusual for us to break compatibility which is why the old sections will still work fine but without the new features.

This means you can still use the old WB3 sections if you really want.

Not only want. There are still WB 3.5 users out there. Skinners need to do both. Let's hope they do.

I'm sorry to disagree Neil, they just dont work.(not on my system anyhow)Specifying fonts for the start menu would be fantastic.I almost couldnt set the clock font because i was only setting it for WB4.(i will be sure to set both the same in the future)On the start menu NEITHER do anything.the mouseover color dosnt work at all.Sorry to be such a whiner about this but the whole purpose of this program is to allow you to change the way microsoft thinks things should look.

just a small note. Due to how fast things change in WB, skinstudio has some attributes that do not work yet, or have been abandoned in WB, there is also a possiblility and it would be actually most probable, that i have added some of them when WB4 was still in development and things were uncertain, if such situation happens, please remort it on Skinstudio newsgroups.
