I'm running a New Lenovo desktop and Windows 10 works fine for me .

Same here, new machine and Windows 10 working fine here.
I will say Security in Windows 10/Defender is getting much better. My OS is tighter and more secure than it ever was on Windows 7.

When I built this machine it would have been in the absolute top 1% of computers on the planet....came in at around 10,000 AUD ...i7-5960x at 3gig....16 cores...32 gig of DDR4 [that win7 couldn't define originally] and an M.2 drive and UEFI boot that win7 took a bit of convincing to understand ...but it works [now] just fine.
It'll be quite a few years yet before I need an upgrade [if ever]....though maybe another 32gig of ram...just because I can [8 slot board]...
Sure it'd be idiot-proof with a later OS than 7 ...but then I'm NOT an idiot so I haven't installed 10 ....

windows 10 is horrible.... bottom line windows 7 FTW!! they keep trying to make the newest versions of windows better and better and yet every time they just make them worse and worse..... i dunno if they do it on purpose or wtf they are thinking... lol

you have super computer and it will be uptodate next 4-5 years probably and if you build it before win 10 you will need to stick to win7 probably. But mostly all computers now building for win 10 only, even big companies like intel do not writing drivers for win 7 anymore. Of cause you will be able to run win7 but will have probs with network, storage, bluetooth etc, a lot of small but annoying bugs
Also, after working on win10 for few years, i cant return to win7 any more, while i loved win7 a lot.

2020 ms said they will stop supporting W7, so I guess we'll all change.

I'm thinking of going to Mac OS, keep my Win 7, and 8.1 on my current machine. After my new Lenovo laptop upgraded to the latest Win 10 upgrade, it sucks, don't run worth a damn.

Did you know that there are millions of people including businesses , still happily using Windows XP with no problems ? Windows 7 will be around for a VERY LONG time regardless whether they end support or not , it simply IS that good. Did you know they stopped manufacturing the 350 Chevy small block engine many years ago , but to this day , there are millions of them in use by very happy owners who are still able to rebuild them and keep them running ? Again.....so much for your "modern computer" theory...

Ok do they still do security updates after any Microsoft OS that is not supported anymore, that in itself is important for me.
....besides, I don't know where you got this "modern computer theory" from, that wasn't anywhere in my comment.

For what it's worth. My first computer was a Commodore 64. Many things have come and gone some good and some not so good.
I continue to use my Win 7 machine most of the time. Mainly now because I prefer to make WB's on it and it's my desktop. However I have yet to fine a problem with my win 10 computer. Visually with Start10, Windowblinds, Fences and OldNewExplorer, I find it looks just great. In fact one of my WB screenshots was on my win10 and you can't even tell it wasn't win7. Have no plans to get rid of my win7 just posting my view.

Forgot this. I don't have the latest version of winstep but my win 10 looks good with that also.
