Looking for Opinions on a New Skin Idea
Comments appreciated...

Thinking of doing a somewhat "Modern" skin here. As an example this is one I was commissioned to do several years ago called Flaty. It was never released and won't ever be, but I was thinking of doing a somewhat modern flat skin for public release. Do you think I should do one or not? I would really appreciate your comments.

I prefer less saturated colors - easier on the eyes
I think this skin has really nice colors (the colors that can be seen on the taskbar)

But it's just an opinion - there is no right or wrong
Do you mean pastel colors?

Provided they can be colorized to taste, they are all fine, Tom. Thx for taking the project on.

Yes and no. From Wikipedia:
"Pastels or pastel colors are the family of colors which, when described in the HSV color space, have high value and low to intermediate saturation"
When Wikipedia writes "high value" I guess they mean "high brightness". I don't necessarily want a bright skin. I was more concerned about the color saturation ("the amount of color in the color" for lack of a better expression).
I don't mind pastel colors, but I didn't want to use that word, because then people assume bright colors. I just wanted less saturated colors.
That being said I don't think I'm going to use a flat skin anyway. The reason I left a comment is because those colors reminded me of MS Metro colors which I also found too saturated. So it was my anger against saturated colors that came out...

Well you can get to the grey pretty easily from the other 4 and not visa-versa, so I'd have to rule out the grey.
I had to test drive the gold out of curiosity and it does recolor great (but you already knew that
). It does run a little brighter than the rest and won't push quite as dark as they will if that matters, it looks good.
Maybe whichever color you'd prefer to work with.
One other thing did occur to me while I was poking at this: You can add blur in WBConfig if it's not in the skin, but you can't take it out if it's in the skin.
And I think I may have accidentally copied the MS Win10 style by filling a rectangle with a solid color and calling it a taskbar.

Great explanation and research but you can also use the saturation button in the WB config.
The blue has more of a purple look, how about a dark blue and the gray is too light how about a charcoal.

This is "Modern" UI design.
I strongly dislike that the word "modern" is used for something that in reality is a regression. It's like saying Picasso was a great artist when he was throwing paint at a wall.

OK, good to know.

No, the gray is not too light, it's great for old-school Mac fans. However a darker variant (charcoal as you say) would please a different group of users.
Mission impossible...

The gray reminds me more of the Win 98 look. Now if I had my choice it would be a lighter black with blue accents, but I know it's not about me Tom has to please everyone.
You don't like the word Modern, how about the word Metro. That was a name that was thrown around a couple years ago.

Sorry AbKu, it cannot be released, but i am working on a new flat design called Moderna that will have 5 different colored sub-styles.
Hi Tom, Looking forward for this. Any idea on when it will be available?
About a week, but decided on doing one color only, a soft blue. Recoloring can be done using in Windowblinds.
