MIA Friends - Great skinners, where are they now?
Wednesday, April 30, 2003 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Here's a few that come to the top of my head:
Crumbut
Dangeruss (still around but I miss his regular presence)
DAK
Shawn Murdock
John Folden
Morphh
Mercury
Scratch (still kind of around but not as much, miss him too)
These are guys who really made a big difference in the course of skinning. They don't get nearly the kudos they deserve since they were at their height when "the community" was very small still.

I think he took a lot into maintaining Skinz single-handedly (yeah, you want the world's best admin, he is it).

John Folden occasionally pops up every now and then. Here and on the winstep groups list. John did some great stuff with windowblinds and winstep.
DAK has shown up on #stardock a couple times the past year. WBMania skins are classic.
Shawn Murdock has been MIA for some time. He was seen on his website about a year ag with the intent of updating some of his skins to the then new WB3. His Sigma3 skins are my all-time favorites and are some of the most understated, elegant skins of all time.
Haven't seen any sign of Morphh at all. His Toxic skin was a major evolution in WB skinning, IMO.
Mercury still pops up every now and then. He use to create all sorts of creative skins years ago. Assimulated was a classic.
I haven't seen Scratch in awhile.
I though Crumbut was active on lotsofskins for awhile. You could always identify a crumbit on first glance. he had a very nice distinct style.
As for some otherss who may not have been as popular as the above, but created some very memorable work:
The Professor
Dan Boldon
MDsigns
jfm
Tleilaxu Organics
Masatoshi Ueji
Ed Deans
CheeseCow
Inkman (whose skins some us have been trying to rescue before they lost forever)

I still have an unpublished skin of DAK. I mailed him to ask permission to finish it, but haven't received an answer. He probably has another e-mail address. If someone has a recent one then please mail it to me.
In the readme text of DXPlayer are some interresting names of skinners and users that helped me developing WBAmp and DXPlayer. Some of them are still active. Others are gone.
* Andrew Buzzo
* Cartier Hung
* Craig
* CyCoPaTh
* d (for hosting WBAmp and DXPlayer at http://go.to/WBStuff)
* Dan Boldon
* David D'Antonio
* DavidK (ultimate CoolPlayer tester!)
* dbqp
* Douglas Quebbeman
* Ge0ph
* Hippy
* Jafo
* Jason Haag
* jef
* Martin Conroy
* Morphh (the originator of WBAmp)
* Mercury
* Philip Powell
* Salvador R. Manzo
* scratch
* The GreenReaper
* Viro
* Werewolf
Buzz popped up recently. Good to see him back in action.

Inkman made some incedible skins. They were Mac-ish, but had their own style. Inkman was one of those silent skinners that influenced a lot of today's skins. I am not sure if he started the trend of smooth and slick skins, but he was at least very dedicated to it.
I am glad that Chris found them all. pjpowell and I will ask permission to add WB4 features to some of his skins. It would be even greater if he did them himself. Inkman lost the skins and I think he is glad that Chris found them and sent them to him.Reply #12 Wednesday, April 30, 2003 9:06 PM

He's even got quite a popular site, which hosts downloads for others in that scene.
Aleksyandr is away at film school and he's learning about being a director, if I recall.
He uploaded a really nice WB about 2 months ago, but been quiet since then.

What do you think Brad?
Professor is one that comes to mind...
DSL https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?Library=1&skinid=485...and Win 3000 https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?Library=1&skinid=520...were some of the best WindowBlind themes back in the early days
