Start10 panel width shortens...
I guess it is still around.
Friday, July 7, 2017 by ronshillington@comcast.net | Discussion: OS Customization
I am having the right panel on my Start10 change size at "random". I searched and found that this problem has been around since at least early 2016.
Is this some really, really hard bug to find? Seems a shame because it is indeed annoying.
Maybe I missed a fix?
TIA

-Some Blinds have been made to widen the right field on the st.menu at certain times, that setting can only be changed through SkinStudio software.

This is a "bump" because the right-side-list width in Start10 seems to still be too narrow more often than not.... still!
It is easy to reproduce.
1. Restart OS (I use Windows 10 so that's my scenario).
2. Note width of right list in start panel.....it's skinny.
3. Right click Start Panel and pop up Panel Type. If you click the Windows 10 type and click Start (don't close Configure) you will see the 10 type Start panel (which is always the proper "wide" width).
4. Now click Start10 configure screen on "Windows 7" choice and you will see that the width is now correct, even in Win10 mode. Exit Configure Start 10 and the Start panel will remain correct until you re-boot Win10. Then it's back to skinny right column most of the time.
This problem reproduces on my Win10 system every time..... and that's even with Lighstar's wonderful skins... and THAT guy know who to make a skin!!!!
Why does this bug still exist????

I have tried to reproduce your problem. However can't.
I would suggest you send in a support ticket. Point it to this thread or submit what you said in your reply #3. You will receive an auto reply letting you know it was received. Do not send in another ticket as you will be put back on the bottom of the cue.
If you get this issue resolved it would be nice if you post how on here. In case anyone else has your problem.

Well I tried to put in a support ticket. Used my email and password just like I do to get here and post.
It says I am not recognized.

I need to make a correction and an apology.
1. When I saw DaveBax's reply, my addled old brain thought he was a Stardock Support person and so I referenced LightStar as a person doing blinds technically correct. The light didn't come on until just a few minutes ago that DaveBax is also one of the several Stars in the Windowblinds sky! So sorry Dave!!!
2. Correction: who should be how.

The support system is not the same as your Stardock account. You need to go through the process of creating a ticket.

Ummmmmm. As I said, tried that. I guess I am being slow here. Do I need to create a NEW Stardock....will I have two accounts. My eyes are old but I didn't see any reference to "Go and make a new account with support here." when I tried the ticket.
Maybe a pointer here, please? Does that sign me up for "other stuff"?
Thanks for your time and effort.

If you can access your account at store.stardock.com but can't open a support ticket using the same credentials at esupport.stardock.com, there is a problem. One that only SD can fix.
Maybe PM Island Dog if that is indeed the case. My creds work at both sites, which is as designed.

I stand corrected. Thanks, Zubaz. Apparently I 'chose' the same credentials for each (I'm so old I don't remember the time I set those up ).

Still have the same totally reproducible problem. Running the latest WIN10. Latest WB. Same quick (but stupid) fix... click start10 configure, click win10 menu style, click start10 menu style and BINGO it stretches right out.
I know, "How many moons are in my world?"
Does anybody have a suggestion for some other ways to isolate this?
TIA!

WELL! Some things last forever!
I am on the latest version of WIN10 and Start 10. I don't have any weird software running (like VM).
I just shake my head because I must a "local condition" since no one has made note of it, that I know of.
It a very noticeable bug which is totally consistent on my system. The problem reappears every time the system is first booted and always goes away with the "dance" I noted above.
Oh well! Enjoy the Silly Season, all!

Hm, never heard of this... Right click on the start menue (where there's no text) to get to settings/Configure, set the number of programs you want shown and that should make your startmenue stay that size always until you change it.
