Edge using DirectX? O.o

Hello,
this is just a curiosity of mines.
A while ago i downloaded a support program for a game. That support program generates an overlay gui over that specific game, which is using directx.
Then, i noticed that if i open edge WHILE the support program is opened, i can't do any mouse action within edge's window (tabs and bar work properly, the webpage itself does not). On the other hand, all other programs work correctly (IE does not share that problem).
Then i was guessing that maybe the directx overlay is capturing mouse clicks and keeping them for himself, not allowing them to reach edge's webpage? Then is edge actually using directx to render webpages?
Or is there any other possible explanation?
