Snarph, surely you know that not everything goes to the same moderator...
they all share duties on this, so if something is still waiting approval it only means
that a different moderator is making the decision on it.

snarph..if it's the 'Matrix'one...it appears icons uploaded to one section are being used for another application....issue of copyright/porting...dunno, I don't usually deal with these sections involved...

JM: What you said is actually not quite true, all the moderators have access to all the sections, but some are more experienced in one particular field, and may not look too deeply into a section that is outside their deeper knowledge. Also, as you know, we get many wallpaper submissions, and sometimes we are so busy wading through those, that the sections with less uploads can get overlooked for a little while.

Another reason that you may sometimes have to wait a little while to see your submissions posted on the site is this: To be fair to people uploading walls and skins, no single moderator will make a decision on whether a wall gets into the database, we have a comments area on each new upload and we all leave our comments and our reasons that we like/dislike the image. When all or most of the moderators have given their feelings about a piece, the last person to do so presses the "public" or "private" button based on whether the image has mostly favourable or unfavourable responses. All very democratic and fair, see?

The above only tends to happen with wallpaper submissions, if your skin is delayed it's usually because we have an issue with a copyright concern or similar. Someone will leave a comment like; " I'm sure I saw this at DeviantArt last month by someone else, does it look familiar to any of you guys?", at which point a discussion will start as to whether it will be allowed or not.

I hope this gives you a little insight into how we do things here, and makes it easier to understand why walls and skins don't always appear straight away.

Would sometimes be nice to know why its not accepted, i mean if its ok to those uploading it then how can improvements be made if its just simply removed? It could be a case of being too similar but as far as we know there is something wrong with it when in fact it just needs 'tweaking'

DM: we used to send out moderation e-mails stating why it was moderated, but we moderators got so much hate mail from disgruntled "blue swirly" creators, that we stopped sending them, preferring instead to send a mail when it is accepted.

Another case of "the few" spoiling it for "the many" I'm afraid. As with many things these days.

DM: As you are a nice guy, (and a fellow Brit) and I know you won't send me hate mail, I too will endeavour to explain if I have to moderate one of yours.

You see, this is the problem. Before, when we sent the mails, it was quite possible that the moderator sending the rejection notice was actually one of the people who liked the image, but because the e-mail came from the moderators personal address, he would receive the backlash from the author. Not very nice!.
