It's a cause and effect thing......dependent on behaviour and overall conduct/benefit to the site...

I try to avoid being involved in discussions like these, because I am related to SD. Consider it to be my view and not that of SD.

MadIce,
I don't run with stupid things unless I'm somehow certain, via gut instinct (don't you dare laugh), that some things are wrong... I still believe there was a bit too much childish acts on both sides.
It has come to that a few times, me leaving quietly for a while to think things through. I got tired of thinking and coming back and finding new stuff exploding all over the place...
I feel responsible for this place. When it gets out of hand, it gets on my nerves. When that happens, I am the worst bitch to be around. And as for the respected part, I believe you are right, I am respected. Not as much as most think.
I am easily forgotten... but easily reminded of again

I need to. I -have- to cool my head down. I don't think there's enough patience in this world right about now to cope with me. So, it is "bye" until further notice.
Exams are over May 8th... I may return after that for a bit of entertainment. Until then, you guys better keep things straight around here, including the admins, you hear me?
I need a nap... lunch is in like..3 hours

Posts on a message board are not cast in stone. In an ongoing conversation it is common to post something and then delete it once it is known the person has seen it. Other deletions I have seen and understood the reason for. Bottom line is that all message boards are tended and shaped by the people that use them, including and especially the moderators. They cannot possibly bow to the whims and the wishes of every single person that has aspirations to have things their way. Message boards are democratic places.... you come, you function or not, you leave one way or another, maybe you come back. It is all a person's choice. The moderators are here on a daily basis. They know and understand things through consistent day to day contact, often through extra board communications that you can not know of, and through inter-moderator communications.
I understand what you are saying about soft and hard shelled people. But you have to know that sometimes your perceptions of people are drawn from a mighty shallow well. If you are not around to gather an adequate number of samplings you are likely to get a wrong impression. Likewise, if you are not giving a plentiful or deep sampling of yourself then you had best be judicious with the one that you do leave. Else the impression people have could be something different than what you see yourself to be.
Human communication is a complicated and fluid thing. It functions best when it is spontaneous and unrestrained. It is futile to try to apply the constraints and control that you sometimes speak of. Unrestrained, however, does not mean uncontrolled. One has to learn how to function on a message board, and sometimes the way of learning may seem harsh and painful. Getting exiled can be a lesson. It does not have to be a permanent thing. Sometimes people just need a time out. Sometimes that is the way people learn.
Ok, now I am beginning to blither.Good night all.

[yes, I do crosswords, too]...

People do not see what happens "behind closed doors" or what the admins discuss before action is taken against a member of the site.
People don't get exiled without being communicated with first.
