Actually, all these names are two people with multiple personality disorder chatting with each other. For instance, someone like Jafo and his spell obsession can't be real. And neither can Doreen. No sane person "hehe"'s that much.
Or perhaps it's just one person doing it.
Anyhow, it explains why they know each other so well, but have never met.

Snowman, yes, I saw you're an admin there now. Good for you!
But frankly, I dunno. After all that's happen, that site kinda feels spooky. It's like visiting an old friend's grave.
But hopefully, it will resuscitate and become something good again. Best of luck to you.

hehe Hi David dont know about that but I'd love to work with some of the old school people again. working on a skin, just finished a contest piece over at devart. May 21 will be two years since I've uploaded a new skin. Maybe I can get something out by then to mark the date.

Well paxx, it IS kinda like a grave atm... virtually no-one visits the site, especially the oldies!!

EventHorizon: Skinz.org was and still is a skinning site. To many posting here it was THE skinning site to go to and hang out, chat on the messageboard and generally have fun.
I had been going there for many months but only found the messageboard quite late on. But once I found it I read almost every single thread.
Doreen was notorious for taking it off topic and Doreenosis.
Jafo was just Jafo and did Jafo type things.
Frogboy posted in the news about upcoming cool stuff Stardock were doing.
People came on asking for warez and got short shrift.
Buzz Hog threw figs around.
The idea of the CommunitySkin was started by Crumbut over there.
Many other people touched my life in a way they will never know while I was there.
Come to think of it it's not that different from here
It was taken over by E-Front who ran it into the ground eventually and became largely inactive when the regulars there moved to other places, DeviantArt, Deskmod and here many taking their skinz etc with them. In many ways this site came about because of skinz.org's demise.
Skinz.org is no longer owned by e-front and back now with Snowman (who is of the old school) as one of the admins there. Pop in and have a look around.
Many people have good memories of it in it's hey-day but also have bad memories of it when it started to decline.
For me wincusto is my new home and that is where I mostly go.

hehe... skinz was also the home of ''''Shoggot'''' the 8 armed admin who moderated all the wallpapers on skinz, he became famous for his tough rules and moderation guidelines... basically if you could get a wallpaper past him you knew you were doing ''''something'''' right, and this often forced a lot of people to try harder and come out with better and better work.
Sometimes people used to argue about the moderation and what was considered ''''art'''' and so forth. Messageboard threads were always entertaining and interesting reads, due to all the colourful characters and their personalities.
The site also had a ''''Top 5 daily downloads'''' that was quite popular and always an honour to get in, and get that little extra exposure - if that''''s what you were looking for.
The site was brown in colour, and at first you thought ''''ewww... what were they thinking?'''', but it quickly grew on you and a lot of people thought of it as their home... a cool place to hang out, chat, upload skins and interact with other like-minded people - the community was a lot smaller back then, something like 15 to 30 new uploads a day or something, and most got at least 1 helpful comment on from someone out there.
It was also a great place for skinners to help out ''''developers'''' in the community... software developers would come to the messageboard and discuss an app and whether it would be useful, then the skinners would skin the app and the admins would create a new category for this up-and-coming app, and so it was born. ColorPad and a few of the 545 Studios app were born in this way, among others.
Skinz was a great place, which unfortunately fell from grace and slowly sunk into corporate greed and was eventually destroyed in the way we knew it, but by that time Deskmod & deviantART (and a little later Wincustomize) were on the scene and people began to slowly disperse away into the other sites.
The skin & graphics community has changed A LOT since those days; things are much much bigger now, and it''''s often hard to get that small-community feeling on places like deviantART for example, but each site does offer it''''s own flavour of what skinz.org once was, and we are all still out there somewhere - we will always remember the days of skinz.org

Hell Dragon: That pretty much summarizes my memory of Skinz.org too. It was a combination of just the right size (enough people to provide a lot of different viewpoints but not so many that it became like a gigantic city where you could never keep up). It was at the right time -- during the dot-com era when sites didn't have to really worry about making money, and it had the right look and feel.
WinCustomize.com was heavily influenced if not out right inspired by skinz.org. The message board, the focus on highlighting the top skin authors and top skins, and moderation of wallpapers to keep the number manageable.

If WinCustomize hadn't come along when Skinz Died, I'm pretty certain I would have quit graphics and skinning. I, for one, am grateful to the moderation process at Skinz, it really does make you work harder and gives you a sense of satisfaction when you pass moderation. Incidentally, not many people know, but I was one of the last people to stay with Skinz.org in it's dying days, continuing to post on the board and uploading wallpapers. I just didn't want it to end, and I was sad when I had to finally accept it was gone. 
Thankfully, WinCustomize has filled the void admirably, and if you can make it here,(with wallpapers) you definitely are doing something right as mentioned in an earlier post, and you will feel that sense of achievement unavailable anywhere else that doesn't moderate images.
