System Restore!

My System restore has been deactivated. I'm using the McAfee Virus Professional and Firewall 4.
I know it has nothing to do with stardock but anyhow.
Mc Afee doesn't answer. If I click on system restore there is McAfee window opened and something like "hawk" appears.

Tried shutting down McAfee then doing it? or if your restoring anyway maybe uninstalling it then trying

My system restore is also disactivated, but on purpose.

My sys restore is activated...and it has worked the one time I needed to use it.
But if it's ME....forget it...that one's a dud...

I had the same thing happen to me once when I used mcaffee. I just went to the control panel and clicked on "System", then on the "system restore" page, and I UNCHECKED "turn off system restore". and all was fine for a while , then it happened again. Needles to say, I dont use Mcaffee anymore

Thanks to everybody who answered. Can anybody advise how to reactivate the system restore but not in the system panel!!
I 've forgotten to mention. MY OS is XP home.

reactivate in System Properties and when Mcaffee warning comes up click allow. It's just warning you of a script write.

thanks for advise. But it's not quite clear to me.
What means reactivate. It is activated. Only thing I can do in the System properties is to deactivate it as now is activated. Do you mean to check or uncheck the box "turn of system restore" in the system window?

System restore is a tool I use to maintain system performance although restore doesn't reverse everything.

thanks a lot. My OS is XP. I forgot to mention it. Sorry for that? There are some advises on the message board but I'm not sure what is actually ment. Can you support because it's helpful to have system restore in case of any crashes or wrongly installed programs.

My System restore in XP was making restore points every day, when I first had Windows XP installed, but then it stopped making them and my printer took 5 minutes to print. I found out that my CPU's were 100%. I didn't know if that was bad or good, turned out to be bad. I had too many programs running in the background that I was not using at the moment and were not needed, like Roxio Easy CD Creator, Windows Messenger, Direct CD,Money Express and a few others. I turned them off (unchecked them in Msconfig startup), and it started making Restore Points again and the printer started to print in a few seconds. You can still use these programs by clicking on them, they just are not running all the time. That is why I love SysMetrix! There is also a place you can check in Administrative Tools/Services...a box will come up...go to System Restore and make sure under STATUS..it says STARTED and under STARTUP it says AUTOMATIC. I hope this helps.
