They are not comments on the art, but personal attacks, name calling, and death wishes.

The comments are out of line on Goodmorphings link. I'm not big on 'wrath-of-God' type stuff, but saito80 should be banned for what he said (in spanish):
"I hope that your friends die in combat or are taken like prisoners death to all the North Americans around the world"
I dunno why Oblivicon doesn't just delete it and remove the venue for those tactless enough to discuss it on someone's comments. I am really surprised at _Martin_ and alo_cmr for taking up such a discussion where it doesn't belong.
Uncharacteristic. That is what I would expect from the more chaotic sites in the community.
Suggestion: Why not limit people to a single comment on a skin? Why do they need to serially comment on a single work? I am still all in favor of letting artists delete comments on their skins, here and anywhere else. Comments should be for the author, not for a public display of "intelligence" by a viewer. Too often they are like a 'critics corner' for the public, and not the author.
If the author doesn't want them there, I don't see why they should be forced to have them there. As long as they read them to begin with they have served their purpose.

Umh, sorry, these comments are really bad, no doubt and there must be something done against them. But such a political skin/statement will provoke good and bad reactions. I am not sure if the site should accept them. This is a skin site, no platform for political propaganda in this or the other way. I would also feel uncomfortable if someone would upload an anti-us artwork to make that clear (but I have reasonable doubts that it would go through moderation...)

No one lets people stick post-it notes under the art in a museum, and no one complains about it being a limit to their freedom-of-speech. They can always go somewhere else and publish their criticism without riding the art's popularity to further their own visibility.
If it functions like a messageboard, I'm afraid they'll use it like one. I think the artist should be able to moderate to a point, or the physical structure should prevent people from (ab)using it that way.

Those comments will stay for the moment.....helps with the exiling process....to be sure the appropriate 'people' are given their marching orders.

Of course...political 'messaged' works or not, the 'War debate' isn't really appropriate on the skin comments...there's a number of related threads on the board for that.
