Memory Hog

Recently Chrome has been acting up. I have the latest version and when I open Chrome I get an error message saying my computer is low on memory. I minimize Chrome and ASC puts the percentage of ram used over 75%. It won't open any other pages and now I'm stuck using IE, not my preference. I cleared the cache, browsing history and everything else. It made no difference. Also when I start my laptop I get another error message saying the paging file configuration has a problem. Its set to system managed page files for now. I tried changing it and discovered it had been set to zero page file size. I changed that to 200MB for a minimum and the recommended size of 1334MB, applied the changes and it made no difference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Maybe I fixed it, maybe I didn't. Uninstalled Chrome then got a fresh one. We'll see...

Good to hear. 
Another problem I had with the latest Firefox is the application shutting down when I attempt a first download after opening the browser; or opening another tab; sometimes even just switching pages or following a link. Turns out it was a bad install/corrupt download. Either way, a purge and reinstall did the trick.

Found out there was a problem with windows update. Tried a repair tool, no go. Tried to update the update angent. That didn't work either. System restore failed twice and I found out it was a borked install of the latest update, KB3213986. I did a second system restore before the updates. Ran chkdsk /f /r C: then back into settings and checked for updates. The download went without a hitch. Then I waited for the install. It went smoothly. Did a reboot and all seems well. The ram issue I found is due to not enough memory. I have 4 gigs but should have more. My laptop can handle 8. Not a big issue right now. Another problem was the windows module installer. I set it to manual through services.msc because of high cpu usage. Right now with Chrome open the ram is at 64%. Yesterday with my browser open for any length of time that percentage was up to 75% or higher.
A borked install was what I thought messed up windows update, machine slowed to a crawl becaue auto updates was trying to install this update which failed three times. Doing the restore and the chkdsk and a reboot worked. Updates are working again and KB3213986 installed correctly. Cpu back to normal averaging 5%. Up and running again.....definitely not to be continued...I hope.

I was going to suggest that.... uninstall, run Ccleaner to mop up the dreggs, and reinstall a fresh copy.
I had a similar issue with Firefox, and that's what sorted it for me... hopefully it does for you, too.
