I can't make posts like bakerstreet can but I know how to be a critical thinker.
As I said before, if you have a argument or side then you should look for stuff that opposses you view so you can see what the other side is talking about and getting there information. You might learn something about your position and either strengthen it or weaken it.
paxx has made many good points and has strong convictions.
bakerstreet made points and backed up his remarks almost evry time while other shot out one liners and evidence that doesn't say much and over simplifies things.
then we have some military guys who feel that no matter what everybody says, the only reason why anybody has the freedom to speak is because they put there lives on the line to do so.
@shu, I liked the links you gave but one bothered me. While I do not trust the US government, I would much rather the US goverment be the oversear than the Taliban anyday.
At least the US government can be manuvered.
I leave with this thought:
Fine material that disproves your position and maybe you will find that you have a stronger position for it.

Saddam Hussein must be put down like a rabid dog along with his sons and anyone and everyone who supports him.
Civilian casualties are a sad fact of war.
Friendly fire casualties are also a fact of war.
Nobody said war was not going to affect many innocent people.
The fact remains.... call me callous, but certain unavoidable, very unpleasant incidents must be tolerated
during a deadly serious conflict such as this one.
I repeat.... Saddam Hussein and his insane, violent progeny and supporters must be PUT DOWN.

The reason we are still arguing about this just proves that it is not a simlpe question. I don't think anybody is black and white on this. I don't think anybody is 100% sure that this war is just, or 100% that this war isn't. I actually think there are probably a great number of people that sway between opinions almost every day. I think it's normal.
Listen, nobody can argue that Saddam Hussein is a tyran. Nobody can be pro-Saddam. On the other hand, this is not the 1991 war, or Afganistan. Nobody has been attacked. There is no clear reason for this war. The reasons cited for it don't quite cut it for everybody. Saddam has dangerous weapons? Some can argue that the UN inspectors were doing a good job and should have been given more time. A lot of people said that war should be the last resort and that everything had NOT been tried to avoid it. Saddam is a tyran? Everybody agrees with this, but there are at least a dozen other such dictators in the World, so why specificaly this one more than another?
Sure Saddam Hussein in a cruel man. But the problem is that there are too many questions, too many doubts. The motives for this war are nothing obvious and that why countries and people are divided on it.
One thing I find interesting about Al-Jazera. Did you know that while America considered them Pro-Saddam, the arabs thought they were actually too much Pro-American? That's why they were quite happy with the job they were doing, convinced that the fact that both parties thought they were unfair proved that they were doing a very good job taking no side.

paxx, I noted a very interesting thought recently.
While many people think in terms of black and white, the world is full of grey tones .... but if you add more white to the grey you still only get more grey .... a bit obtuse but it bears thought!

The reason why we are still argueing over it, is because we're all in desperate need of attention.
This is one of this discussions where everyone has their point of view and sticks to it no matter what. Nothing is going to come out of it and it can go on for years.

One thought about the French poll.
The French can be weird sometimes. Lets not forget that in the Presidential elections last year, Le Pen got almost 18% of the votes. That shocked a lot of people. It's huge. For those who don't know Le Pen, he's basically considered fascist by most people. One of the things he was promoting in his campaign was basically to kick out of France all the immigrants, even the citizens that don't have French origins. Of course, 18% is a far cry from a majority, but it's still waaaay too much.
