I understand your feelings Elfie, you have a right to be against the war, as an american citizen. I don't find you unamerican at all, and you have a right not to like bush. But the day you hate america is the day it falls. We have to stand together we all can believe in different things, but we can't turn on each other.
and we don't just bomb any country we think is a threat. Sadam is an evil man who murders people, and rapes women. He starves children to death, and wants to take over the world. America didn't ask for the job to be the worlds police, but the world gave us that job. Now everyone wants to know why. You think we have no evidence. If Sadam knew what we knew he'd hide the weapons he thinks we don't know about. He doesn't know what we know and that makes him skiddish. The US gov't has a lot more to go on than you think. But I guess that makes you and I both at a loss, since neither of know what they know either, so we are both un-educated about this. But understand I am American, and America fights for Freedom. I have faith in that blindly, the same way i have faith in god, and i would die to save America, and what is stands for.

Things have changed since somalia, many of your rangers died and now if people want to defend their territory against the invader GB and US will lost too many LIVES.
If u live at US, don't care, sleep nice, becase the only missiles that saddam HAD (not have) were medium range, not very very hig range (intercontinental).
Belive me, I don't sleep well because a president like yours have the power to use Nuclear weapons, like China and Pakistan and India.
If US is the peecekeeper and the World saver why don't take care of china, the kill who ever they want, the sell nuclear and chemical weapons and much more, why don't u act?.

da zman, I understand and comprehend why Americans fear Saddam. He struck at a place that hurt, and he may strike again. An urge to protect our loved ones always outshines everything else, and at times, even logic.
I do not doubt the American people want Saddam gone to protect their loved ones, but the governmental officials aren't as "easy" as the citizens of America. Their goal and aim are questionable, and I question their intent.
America has defined many things, but just because human rights didn't exist in a country, it doesn't make it unlawful and worthy of extermination. The American people, the people truly hurt by 9/11 only wishes to protect, and that is why many are for the war. However, their intent may only be the cover the government is using.
If you wish to defend the choices of your people for the reasons they portrayed, I am not against it. If you want to defend the government for the same reasons: freedom and justice... and most of all, a safe home.... then I'm afraid the issue is rather questionable, and I, along with many other people worldwide, may not support that decision.

in case you didn't know Communism doesn't work, China would be a threat if they had an economy. Communism destoys an economy, and their is no market for anything. So without money how are they a threat??? And we are at peace with China, what's your point. China isn't invading the surrounding countries. As for Nuclear Weapons. The United States will not fire a single nuclear weapon during this war. You are trying to make us sound like Bullys. In this School yard the Bully has been picking the kids for a long time. And we are the big brother here to stop him. The other kids may say, well it's ok, I think he's learned his lesson, but until you knock him on the ground, he won't stop picking on the other kids. And they worry what will happen after you kick his ass, they are scarred of it just getting worse. Well we are gonna kick him off the school yard, it won't happen again.

what rights to arabians have been taken away. All men are equal, under the eyes of the Constitution, and under god. I haven't seen any people put in Jail for being just Arabian. so what are you talking about??? those arabians could be in iraq having their babies starving to death. China and Taiwan ties are best left alone for many people don't understand it fully. I, personally, feel like China is a threat to Taiwan. I am willing to argue that the only reason why America is "at peace" with China is because of economic investments. That nation can grow and develop, and many nations, including Taiwan, Japan, America recognized it. China is a money vault ready to be devoured.

If it ever came down to it, I would stand up and fight for America. I hate the thought of it, and I hate violence, but assuming a draft was reinstated and I could non-volunterily enter service, I would not leave.
I don't join now, because of personal feelings, but if I was required to because of my citizenship, I would fight for America.
I have disagreements with America at times, but I can't think of any other country I'd rather live in.

Its 5 AM in the morning at Spain, i will continue with this tomorrow but, belive me, deds are not only "sometimes a sad casualty", you said that because your contry doesen't have had a war inside it reciently, we have ETA that is not a separatist group (as your tv said) the have killed more than 3000 people in more than 20 years and we have not heard a word of help form US 'til 9/11. People in Europ know much more of wars than you because we lived it and unfortunately we have many terrorists groups, its not only the deds and destruction but also fear, desesperation sorrow and many things. Think about that and dont be silly, don't think this is only for saddam.

Argentina does not have billions of dollars to create a massive WMD.
USA probably does sell to the black market... to the level of Argentina? Ira?< North Korea? Is the US army weak and unloyal? What happens to someone in the USA who sells arms illegally? In Iraq, is Saddam so careful?

I wonder if anyone realizes the irony that the only reason we are free to have this discussion anyway is largely because Americans were willing to fight, kill, and die in the service of freedom.
From an intellectual, theoretical point of view, war is a terrible thing that should be avoided if possible. In an ideal world, war would never be necessary.
But here, on planet Earth, in reality, there are bad people out there. And life is, unfortunately, not fair.
Who is giving the US the right to replace the regime in Iraq? How about the same people that gave the US the right to replace the regime in France in 1944. The American people. (Vichy France was technically a sovereign country whose government was overthrown by the US and a "friendly" regime - i.e. De Gaulle, installed).
But let's no kid ourselves, it's not wishful thinking and warm fuzzy thoughts that brought us the freedom we all enjoy today. It wasn't love that made the Internet. It was predominately American military might (the Internet came from a cold war military project for instance).
That we live today in countries where individual freedom is respected wasn't inevitable. In many respects, it was a miracle. Two horrific genocidal powers nearly engulfed the world -- Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. Take the US and its willingness to fight for other people's freedom away and the world would be a much worse place.
The Iraqi people deserve such freedom as well. No, that's not the reason why the US is going to end up liberating Iraq anymore than liberating the Germans and French was the reason the US fought World War II. But that will be the end result.
In World War II, the easy path would have been to accomodate Hitler. But the UK and USA, alone of the major world powers who could have stayed out of the European conflict, chose to stand up for what was right (with Canadian and Australian help too).
