WiFi..........Changes

Wednesday, January 6, 2016 by Leo the Lion | Discussion: Everything Else

I just upgraded my home NetGear setup to ac to take advantage of increasing bandwidth and more devices at home...........that alone gave me download speeds in the 140's - nearly triple of what I had before and.........better streaming on all devices. Now I am reading that the standards are moving ahead again..........I found it interesting to read the upcoming changes to WiFi standards....................https://www.wi-fi.org/news-events/newsroom/wi-fi-alliance-introduces-low-power-long-range-wi-fi-halow. Came across this one that will be available soon http://gizmodo.com/the-first-802-11ad-router-makes-your-wi-fi-network-almo-1749163152

Nothing stands still for long, does it?

Leo...it'll be years until you see devices with that.

"Despite making details of the new standard available today, we won’t be seeing any compatible devices make their way to market for a few more years. The Wi-Fi Alliance won’t begin certifying HaLow products until 2018." - Neowin
