Active Virus Alerts

For more information about the W32/Myparty.a@MM please go to:

Mcafee Anti-Virus Information
Symantec Anti-Virus Information

The virus arrives as an email with the subject line "new photos from my party!" It contains an innocuous looking file attachment called www.myparty.yahoo.com. A message in the body of the email reads: "Hello! My party... It was absolutely amazing! I have attached my web page with new photos! If you can please make color prints of my photos. Thanks!"

The so-called "My Party" worm, which is not considered destructive, spreads by infiltrating popular email software Microsoft Windows Address Book and Outlook Express Database.

Gawd Awmighty, in the time it took to write one post, 7 were added.

IP, I'm using a P3 450 which could upgrade to 750 max if I could find one cheap, otherwise, it's not worth spending the money.

Hi everybody

IPlural - remember the Jerusalem B virus, that would keep appending itself to your apps until they took forever to launch? No data damage, but the buggar who wrote that one had a mean sense of humor.

I remember the jerusalem B virus very well. After 30 mins it would move a block of text on screen up by two lines and slow the 8088 it was on to half speed. 4 Mhz in Wordstar was not fun. I never got the one where the letters fell off the screen but I always wanted that one. The other one I wanted to see was the Magistr vius. Makes all your icons run away from the mouse. Sadly I got to see it on my parents PC after it had emailed about 300 emails to who knows where. My Dad thought I was controllig the PC remotely and moving his icons around so I didn't find out it was there until it had been active for an hour or so and I finally saw it as I was passing. Of course AVG is installed on that PC now. I learnt my lesson
