How Do I...
Start 8 Activation on Windows 10
Tuesday, September 15, 2015 by winstar4 | Discussion: OS Customization
Start 8 - I have several Start 8 activations / keys (5). They do not work on Start 10. Can or will Stardock convert those keys to Start 10 keys? When I upgrade Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on affected computers what is the best way to retain (install / activate) my Start 8 purchases on the Windows 10 computers?
Thanks in advance

If you have an active Object Desktop subscription, yes. If you purchased Start 8 as a stand alone program, no.
It's the same as any other stand alone program. If you purchased Photoshop 5 you wouldn't be able to use the serial number or key to upgrade to Photoshop 6.

Start10 is a different application so Start8 keys won't work with them.
There are some upgrades available: https://www.stardock.com/products/start10/download.asp#upgrade

Thanks for the comments / info. I already own Object Desktop plus two Start 10 product keys (in addition to the five Start 8 product keys). The extra product keys are / were for family and friends. Of course my family / friends all want Windows 10 installed. I guess my Start 8 product keys are obsolete. ![]()

If you purchased start 10 then the activation code(product key) comes with it. But I can see your point, getting the equivalent number of keys. I don't think you can trade up for 'em.
